We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and collaborative Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our Personal Choice Program and help individuals develop the skills they need to thrive at home, at work, and in their communities.As a part-time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will work closely with the Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary team to implement individualized therapeutic interventions that promote independence, functional living skills, and meaningful participation in daily activities. Your work will directly support participants in achieving their personal goals while enhancing their quality of life through person-centered, evidence-based care.This is a hands-on, relationship-focused role where you'll build meaningful connections while empowering participants to strengthen daily living skills, increase community engagement, and maximize their independence. You will assist in implementing individualized service plans, monitor participant progress, provide therapeutic support, and collaborate with team members to ensure services remain responsive to each participant's evolving strengths, goals, and needs.Whether you're helping someone improve their self-care skills, develop routines for greater independence, adapt to new challenges, or achieve a personal milestone, your work will have a lasting impact on their confidence and ability to live a more fulfilling life.If you are passionate about helping others reach their fullest potential through compassionate, person-centered care, we invite you to join a team where your expertise empowers individuals to live with greater independence, choice, and purpose every day.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for ensuring effective and meaningful support to each person to whom they are assigned.Serve as a liaison between AccessPoint RI and The Executive Office of Health and Human Services or other agencies that provide support to the participant.Conducts community-based assessments for accessibility and adapted equipment needs for people with disabilities and elders as it pertains to improving their independence and safety.Conducts equipment and accessibility assessments annually for all Personal Choice program participants.Provide accessibility and mobility assessments.Facilitates annual assessments.Evaluate on an annual basis, the ability to function within their home and in the community and make recommendations on any home modifications, adapted equipment, or assistive technology that would increase the participants independence or safety utilizing an agreed upon assessment.Assist the participant in identifying and applying for funding to acquire any modifications or equipment recommended in the assessment.Provide training and education in the safe use of any equipment or modifications for both the participant and any caregivers the participant identifies. Which enables participants to increase their ability to perform activities of daily living.Adequacy of the current spending plan and progress toward participant goals under the guidelines developed by the Medicaid agency.Perform all other duties as assigned.Qualifications / Requirements:High school diploma, GED, or an associate degree in a related fieldStrong communication skills to effectively engage with students, staff, and families.CPR Certification (Pursuing Cert.).Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency transportation requirements.Ability to lift independently up to 50 lbs.Must have a licensed Physical or Occupational Therapist Certification from the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America.Ability to carry out NCI techniques and holds.Experience gained through employment at an Independent Living Center and possess a strong commitment to the principles of Participant Choice and Participant Direction. #J-18808-Ljbffr Accesspoint Ri
