Details Work in a 38-bay PACU unit within a Level I Trauma Center that operates 24/7 Average daily census of 70-90 patients Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM) with one weekday of choice plus every Saturday and Sunday required 16-week assignment length No on-call responsibilities Unit has dedicated PCT/transport team support Floating limited to PACU or PreOp units only, within scope Patient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric patients Recovers surgical patients from neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant cases Does not recover open heart surgery or liver transplant cases Uses Epic charting system Requirements Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence) BLS and ACLS certifications required CCRN and TNCC certifications preferred Minimum 2 years of PACU experience in a Level I Trauma Center required ICU/critical care experience required Level I and Level II Trauma Center experience required Epic charting experience required Teaching hospital experience preferred Critical care skills required including dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, IV starts, IV vasopressor administration, ICP monitoring, and care of ventilated patients First-time travelers accepted, but must have 2 years of Level I critical care/ICU and PACU experience Additional Information Provide critical care nursing to a wide variety of acute post-operative surgical patients requiring artificial airways, invasive monitoring, transfusions, and vasoactive medications Located in a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center teaching hospital with 1,273 staffed beds Navy blue scrubs required Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted Must complete facial hair fit testing requirements for proper respirator fit; clean shaven or compliant facial hair required with no exceptions RTO limited to no more than 7 days per contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment Pending license candidates accepted First-time travelers welcome to apply Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler Travelers who complete an 18-month tenure must take a 3-month break in service before returning American Traveler Job ID P-737410.
