Schedule: Wednesdays, 5:00 PM–9:00 PM
Location: Los Angeles, CA (Downtown)
Work Model: 100% onsite

Company Overview
We are supporting a local labor-affiliated apprenticeship and workforce-training organization in Los Angeles seeking a part-time Technical Air Quality Instructor. The instructor will support a technical training program delivered onsite at a local community college.
Position Summary
The Technical Air Quality Instructor will teach students the practical and regulatory fundamentals of air-pollution monitoring, environmental field testing, indoor air quality, instrumentation, data review, and compliance. This role requires both hands-on technical subject-matter expertise and prior teaching or formal technical-training experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom and hands-on lab instruction in air-quality sampling, environmental science, HVAC/indoor air quality, and related technical topics.
- Train students on air-monitoring and analytical equipment, including particle counters, gas chromatographs, multi-gas monitors, gravimetric samplers, beta attenuation monitors (BAMs), and gas analyzers.
- Teach environmental field-testing methods, site assessments, sampling procedures, and air-quality monitoring support.
- Teach students how to process raw sensor data, identify anomalies, document results, and apply quality-control practices.
- Explain applicable standards and regulatory requirements associated with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), California Air Resources Board (CARB), and local air-pollution control agencies.
- Follow established curriculum, laboratory procedures, and environmental guidelines while supporting student readiness for relevant technical certifications.
- Maintain a safe, organized instructional environment and provide practical demonstrations of equipment operation and field-testing techniques.
Required Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience is required. Qualifying experience may include classroom instruction, laboratory instruction, vocational education, adjunct teaching, continuing education, or formal technical training.
- Several years of hands-on professional experience in air quality, industrial hygiene, environmental testing, emissions monitoring, HVAC/indoor air quality, environmental health and safety, or a closely related technical field.
- Working knowledge of environmental sampling, air-monitoring instrumentation, basic chemistry and physics concepts, and air-quality regulatory requirements.
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to students and demonstrate equipment and field-testing procedures in a hands-on setting.
- Ability to work onsite in Los Angeles every Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Preferred Qualifications
- Visible Emissions Evaluation (VEE) training.
- Certified Permitting Professional (CPP) credential.
- California Air Resources Board (CARB) training, regulatory, permitting, compliance, or monitoring experience.
- Relevant HVAC, industrial hygiene, environmental, emissions, or air-quality certifications.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, chemistry, engineering, occupational/environmental health, or a related discipline.
- Experience developing curriculum, lesson plans, labs, or certification-preparation materials.
