Assembler

This role focuses on operating and supporting assembly machines for a valve, steam, and seal manufacturing facility on 3rd shift. You will perform machine setup preparations, basic inspections, and routine maintenance while maintaining a clean and safe work area. The position is physically demanding and requires comfort working in a non-climate-controlled environment that can be significantly warmer during summer months.

• Prepare and set up assembly machines to meet internal production schedules and customer requirements.
• Operate assembly equipment safely and efficiently, following established procedures and work instructions.
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable product conditions to the appropriate supervisor or department contact.
• Perform visual and basic dimensional inspections to ensure product quality and adherence to specifications.
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations at all times.
• Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required to minimize downtime and support reliable operation.
• Use basic reading, writing, and math skills to complete production documentation, counts, and simple calculations.
• Handle molding tasks and inspection activities as part of the production process.
• Develop familiarity with basic machine functions to perform setup, operation, and minor adjustments.
• Accept and respond positively to frequent supervision, guidance, and assistance with machine setup and operation.
• Perform computer transactions in the ERP system, including recording production data, inventory movements, and job status updates.
• Stand, walk, reach, push, pull, and crouch throughout the shift to support production activities.
• Lift and move up to 10 pounds regularly and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds as part of normal duties.
• Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and attendance expectations, including probationary period requirements.

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math needed for production counts, documentation, and simple calculations.
• Capability to perform molding and inspection tasks with attention to detail and quality standards.
• Familiarity with basic machine functions to support setup, operation, and minor adjustments.
• Willingness to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance, especially with machine setup and training.
• Ability to perform computer transactions in an ERP system, including basic data entry and navigation.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, push, pull, and crouch for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
• Comfort working in a physically demanding role in a hot, non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
• Reliability in attendance and adherence to company policies, particularly during the 90-day probationary period.

• Previous manufacturing or assembly operator experience is preferred but not required.
• Experience as a general laborer or machine operator in an industrial setting is beneficial.
• Ability to work 3rd shift (SundayThursday, 10:00 p.m.6:00 a.m.) and occasional extended hours.
• Willingness to train on 1st shift (6:00 a.m.2:00 p.m.) for approximately two weeks before moving to 3rd shift.
• Comfort working around moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, or airborne particles in a production environment.
• Ability to adapt to a loud and hot environment while maintaining focus on safety and quality.

This position is on 3rd shift, Sunday through Thursday, from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with the option to work 10- or 12-hour days by adding 24 hours before or after the scheduled shift. Average workweeks are typically around 5060 hours, and the goal is to reduce Saturday work as the team becomes fully trained. New hires will train on 1st shift (6:00 a.m.2:00 p.m.) for approximately two weeks before transitioning to their regular 3rd shift schedule. The facility is not climate controlled and is usually 510 degrees hotter in the summer, making the environment physically demanding and often hot. Team members may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration, and the production floor can be loud at times. The role involves standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, crouching, and lifting throughout the shift, with regular lifting up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Employees receive a shift premium for working 3rd shift and a raise after three months upon conversion, reflecting the value placed on dependable, safety-conscious production team members.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Avilla, IN.

The pay range for this position is $19.66 - $20.66/hr.
