Your primary function in this entry-level position is testing New Product Development (NPD), sustainability and quality improvement projects, in addition to some agency compliance. This Technician role will support qualifying Trane Applied Compression and Commercial Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) products. The job requires problem solving, troubleshooting, and collaboration with other lab and engineering team members to ensure timely completion of projects. This position is salaried non-exempt (overtime eligibility). Core Job Responsibilities (others may be added):Work safely and maintain a safe work area in accordance with company policies and proceduresSupport product development activities by operating commercial HVAC equipment, controlling test facilities, and collecting experimental test data, with guidance from senior laboratory staffAssist with installation, modification and building of developmental Commercial HVAC equipment and components, following engineering, agency and test requirementsAssist Test Engineering and other Technicians to install and utilize laboratory test equipment including data acquisition systems, power analyzers, flow equipment, pressure, and temperature measurement devicesAssist in the troubleshooting and repair of Trane Commercial HVAC technologies and equipmentMinimum Qualifications:Associate's Degree in HVAC (or related technical discipline) from an accredited school is required; OR1-year HVAC (or related technical) certificate/diploma with at least 2-years of relevant HVAC experience is required; OR1-year HVAC (or related technical) certificate/diploma with a willingness to return to school (with Company paid tuition) to complete an Associate's Degree in HVAC within 2-years.Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) requiredEPA Type Universal Certification or willingness to become certifiedKey Competencies:Basic grasp of refrigeration related thermodynamic principles and mechanical troubleshooting is preferredDemonstrates basic knowledge on measuring/inspection instruments and or mechanical and electrical components and their principles, properties, and theoriesBasic understanding of schematics, reading, and interpreting engineering drawings, technical reports, safety rules, operation, and maintenance instructionsAbility to understand and follow current work instructions and applicable test standardsAbility to help solve practical problems and deal with a variety of complex variables in situations where only limited standardization existsProficient verbal and written communication skills in order to listen and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees in the organizationAbility to multitask and work in a fast-paced team environmentAnnual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range:$36,300.00 - $66,465.00Compensation Type:Exception HourlyIncentive Eligible:NoSales Commission Eligible:NoThrive at work and at home:Benefits kick in on DAY ONE for you and your family, including health insurance and holistic wellness programs that include generous incentives – WE DARE TO CARE!Family building benefits include fertility coverage and adoption/surrogacy assistance.Paid time off includes up to 15 vacation days, paid holidays, sick leave, and additional options to support volunteer and parental leave.401K match up, educational and training opportunities through company programs along with tuition assistance and student debt support.Safety Sensitive Role:YesThe company designates certain roles as Safety Sensitive.
