EH&S & Facilities Coordinator

The EH&S & Facilities Coordinator is responsible for supporting Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs and facility operations across AMSC’s Massachusetts locations. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to gain hands‑on experience in workplace safety, regulatory compliance, facilities management, and manufacturing operations. Working closely with the Senior Facilities & EH&S Manager, the Coordinator will assist with safety initiatives, employee training, facility inspections, compliance activities, contractor coordination, and day-to‑day facility support. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, enjoys working in a dynamic environment, and is interested in building a long‑term career in Environmental Health & Safety, Facilities Management, or Operations. Functions Conduct routine safety and facility inspections, including fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, eyewash stations, spill kits, and other EH&S equipment. Support EH&S compliance activities and assist with OSHA, NFPA, and company safety program requirements. Assist with accident, incident, and near‑miss investigations and corrective action follow‑up. Support new employee safety orientation and other EH&S training initiatives. Participate in Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, GEMBA walks, and safety observations. Assist with contractor and vendor coordination, ensuring compliance with site safety requirements. Support hazardous waste handling, storage inspections, chemical inventory management, and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) administration. Assist with emergency preparedness activities, fire drills, and evacuation exercises. Maintain safety records, inspection reports, training documentation, and compliance files. Assist with maintaining adequate supplies of safety equipment and materials. Identify safety concerns and recommend corrective actions. Assist with day‑to‑day facility operations across office, manufacturing, warehouse, and common areas. Support facility maintenance activities, including coordinating repairs, workspace setup, furniture installation, and facility improvement projects. Perform basic facility maintenance and upkeep activities, including minor repairs, painting, furniture assembly, ceiling tile replacement, and general building support. Assist with office moves, workspace setup, and site logistics projects. Support shipping, receiving, and facility logistics activities as needed. Assist with maintaining facility supplies, maintenance materials, and inventory. Learn to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as required. Travel between AMSC facilities (Ayer and Westminster) to support EH&S and facility activities as needed. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Education - Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering Technology, Operations, Facilities Management, Business, or a related field preferred. Technical school, trade school, military experience, internships, co‑ops, or relevant coursework will be considered. 0-3 years of experience in EH&S, facilities, manufacturing, operations, maintenance, construction, or Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs Strong interest in Environmental Health & Safety, Facilities Management, or Operations. Willingness to learn OSHA regulations, safety programs, and regulatory compliance requirements. Hands‑on mindset with the willingness to assist with facility maintenance and operational support activities. General understanding of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and basic construction or manufacturing practices preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple assignments. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a diverse group of employees, contractors, and vendors. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to read and interpret basic technical documents, safety procedures, and operating instructions. Ability to identify facility and safety concerns and recommend solutions. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work in office, manufacturing, and warehouse environments. Valid driver's license required. Ability to obtain forklift certification. OSHA or EH&S‑related certifications are a plus but not required. #J-18808-Ljbffr AMSC
