Role Type: Full-time

Salary: $250,000 - $275,000 per year + annual performance-based bonus

Actual compensation offered will be determined individually, based on a number of job-related factors, including location, skills, licensure, experience, and education.

Summary:

The SVP, Development is responsible for helping to define and execute against the strategy for the firm’s software development, including both front office and back-office applications. The associated components include, but are not limited to system design, development, system maintenance, planning and management of design and testing, vendor management, and technical oversight. Applications include commissions, compliance systems, analytics, data warehouse, image storage, workflow automation, intranet, search, digital platforms, forms, authentication systems, alerts and notifications, operations portal, as well as integrations with dozens of 3rd parties. 

As an SVP, he/she is expected to build high performing and extremely engaged teams that are agile and results driven. The candidate must have strong leadership, partnership, communications, and presentation skills. They will be expected to lead and participate in various all-hands meetings and offsite discussions. The SVP must also have excellent relationship management skills and is expected to collaborate closely with technology and non-technology leadership. Lastly, regular interactions with executive leadership should be expected. The SVP must be fluent in Agile methodologies, DevOps, and be able to modernize software design, development processes, and QA practices.

  Responsibilities:

• Define and execute a software development strategy, engaging key stakeholders to explore and define functionality and requirements from the business and/or Product Management. Develop platforms that will support current and future product and service offerings, through collaboration across the enterprise.

• Build strong inter-personal relationships with peers and other key stakeholders that can help increase execution velocity, quality, and identify new opportunities.

• Accelerate AI first Product Development approach in to this organization.

• Oversee the work of multiple teams performing system design, development, and system maintenance of multiple platforms; oversee the planning and management of technical design, testing, implementation, control and maintenance of applications – for front, middle, and back office applications.

• Communicate with other leaders and technical peers, such as database engineer, Business Systems Analysts, Infrastructure, Information Security, Data Analytics, Workplace Technology, business/user group contacts as well as the senior executive team as well as the Board of Directors.

• Create Software Quality Assurance (SQA) strategy and operational execution plans.

• Review all work products to ensure architecture guidelines have been followed in the design and specifications of the assigned projects/systems and that there is appropriate adherence to the systems development lifecycle.

• Manage teams to ensure alignment of departmental priorities and activities with organizational goals. Coordinate resources and activities to deliver tangible results that directly impacts the business, Financial Professionals, and their end-clients. Manage pay, performance management, employment and staffing decisions. Manage consultant and vendor relationships to ensure adherence to plans and contractual commitments.

• Review all project documents to ensure clear project definition and execution. Partner with the Enterprise Project Management Office and Product Management to ensure adherence to “metrics that matter” (e.g., adoption rate, quality, velocity, NPS, etc.).

• Ensure appropriate resources and system quality to maintain published service levels and production system availability.

• Demonstrate pro-active problem resolution abilities, and the ability to be a problem solver

• Identify project risks and provide appropriate process and procedures to mitigate those risks

• Stay abreast of technology trends, and work with partners to implement modern operational and software related processes (e.g. Dev Ops, Cloud, Agile, Innovation and R&D opportunities, and more).

• Establish and maintain strong, strategic partnerships with vendors and service suppliers.

• Develop RFPs/RFIs, oversee product evaluations, coordinate product and service selections, and ensure that pricing, terms, and conditions for supplier contracts meet Osaic and IT standards to achieve optimal results for the firm.

• Provide well-considered counsel to the CTO, Information Technology leaders, Product Management, and other business service leaders on a variety of technology related topics.

 Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree Preferred, H.S. Diploma or GED certificate + Significant Practical Experience will be considered

Technology-related degree preferred. 

Basic Requirements: 

• 12-15+ years of leadership experience managing and/or directing modest to large sized technology teams is required.

• 12-15+ years of software development experience, in roles of increasing responsibility

• The ability to inspire, motivate, organize, mentor, and manage teams and teammates located in geographically diverse locations.

• A reasonable level of knowledge of the financial services industry, including associated regulations.

• Changes or emerging risks in supplier or product status and capabilities, standards and protocols, or other industry, market, or technology factors that may influence or impact IT systems and processes

• The ability to anticipate risk and take steps to address those issues before they impact production, audit, and/or regulators.

• Ability to use product management and methodology tools; work with Finance to perform cost benefit analysis and economic feasibility studies.

• Technical management background, ability to match business plans with cost effective technical solutions

• Strong Client focus

• Experience in related IT disciplines such as: data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, database administration and outsourced systems.

• Strong leadership and management abilities. The ability to lead cross functional project teams in implementing projects of a complex nature.

• Demonstrate critical thinking and planning at a strategic cross-enterprise level. Ability to translate strategic plans into specific objectives, and to create and execute project/product plans to achieve desired outcomes.

• Strong financial management skills in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.

• Persuasive, professional communication style. Capable of communicating complex, technical topics to diverse audiences. Ability to interact with senior management and influence decision makers.

• Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing conditions and priorities, and to redirect managers and teams toward new objectives.

• Excellent understanding of multi-disciplinary nature of IT solutions.

• Functional understanding of project/product/platform management principles.

• Demonstrated ability to apply technology solutions to business opportunities.
