Teacher Of Children With Visual Impairments
Founded in 1979 by a group of dedicated, hands-on, and highly regarded pediatric therapists, Children's Therapy Center is on a mission to maximize the potential of children with disabilities. We partner with families to celebrate where each child is today and work together toward who they can become.
We offer family-centered early child developmental services including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, as well as play-based, child-led early childhood special education. For more than four decades, our commitment has endured through strong partnerships, thoughtful innovation, and care that centers each child and family.
Children's Therapy Center is looking for a compassionate and experienced Teacher of Children with Visual Impairments to join our Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) team. This position serves infants and toddlers (birth to age three) with blindness or visual impairments and their families throughout South King County. The TVI collaborates with families, ESIT providers, community partners, and educational systems to ensure children receive individualized, developmentally appropriate vision services that support participation in daily routines and family priorities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Participate as a member of interdisciplinary ESIT teams to evaluate children's vision-related needs and contribute to the development and implementation of Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs).
- Provide direct vision services to infants and toddlers with blindness or visual impairments in accordance with ESIT and Part C regulations.
- Conduct functional vision assessments and make recommendations that support child development and family priorities.

- Provide consultation and guidance to ESIT providers regarding best practices for serving children with visual impairments, including cortical visual impairment (CVI).
- Collaborate with Family Resources Coordinators, school districts, healthcare providers, Washington Sensory Disabilities Services, Washington State School for the Blind, and other community partners.
- Assist teams in identifying vision concerns, implementing appropriate screening practices, and accessing specialized resources.
- Utilize technology and remote consultation strategies when appropriate to support equitable service access.
- Assist with identifying service gaps and emerging needs related to vision services for infants and toddlers.
- Participate in training, professional development, and community outreach activities that support families and ESIT providers.
- Provide education and coaching to families and professionals regarding visual impairment, child development, and intervention strategies.
- Contribute to program planning and quality improvement efforts.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation, service records, and progress reports.
- Collect and maintain required data to support program evaluation, quality management, and funding requirements.
- Complete reports and other documentation required by Children's Therapy Center, funding entities, and regulatory agencies.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, conferences, and team activities as assigned.
