Engagement DIRECTOR

Founded in the spring of 2012 by a group including Doug and Heather Connelly, Rockharbor Church in North Meridian, Idaho, experienced rapid growth. Within a few years, this led to the decision to plant a sister church in South Meridian. In August 2016, Stonehill Church launched with Doug Connelly as the lead and founding Pastor. Initially meeting at Victory Middle School, they moved their Sunday services to Mountain View High School in 2019. Stonehill Church is optimistic about the future and is currently focused on: reaching those without a relationship with Jesus, discipling believers within the church, making a significant impact on the local community through outreach and individual service, and planning for a permanent facility on Amity near Meridian Road. The Engagement Director at Stonehill Church is a crucial leadership role reporting to the Executive Director of Adult Ministries and overseeing one to three direct reports, including the First Impressions and Care Coordinators. The primary focus of the position is guest assimilation, requiring a highly relational leader who can help connect a growing population of out‑of‑state transplants into the church community. The Engagement Director’s responsibilities include: Vision and Leadership Lead Engagement Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive vision for guest engagement, connection, and assimilation that aligns with the overall mission and values of Stonehill Church. Team Oversight: Provide leadership and development for 1–3 direct reports, including the First Impressions Coordinator, Engagement Coordinator, and Care Coordinator. Collaborative Leadership: Partner closely with the Executive Director of Adult Ministries and other ministry leaders to ensure alignment and integration across departments. Guest Experience & Assimilation Cultivate Connection Pathways: Create and oversee clear, effective systems that help guests and attendees take next steps into deeper community and involvement. Relational Engagement: Foster a welcoming, people‑first culture that prioritizes meaningful relationships, especially within a context of rapid growth and new residents. First Impressions Excellence: Ensure all guest‑facing environments reflect a high level of hospitality, intentionality, and care. Systems & Strategic Growth Build Scalable Processes: Design and implement systems that can effectively support a growing number of guests and attendees. Prepare for Future Expansion: Lead the development of engagement strategies that will scale with the church’s anticipated growth and future building plans. Data & Follow‑Up: Oversee processes for tracking engagement and ensuring timely, effective follow‑up with guests. Care & Financial Stewardship Oversee Care Ministries: Provide leadership and direction for care initiatives, including benevolence and support systems within the church. Budget Management: Develop and manage a ministry budget of up to $120,000, ensuring wise stewardship and alignment with ministry priorities. Church Integration Champion Connection Across Ministries: Ensure engagement strategies are integrated throughout the life of the church, helping individuals move from first‑time guests to fully engaged members of the community. Recruit and Equip: Identify, recruit, and equip a diverse team of adult volunteers, providing them with the training and support. Empower Leaders: Create and implement intentional pathways for leadership development, empowering guests to take next steps in joining Stonehill’s congregation and contribute to the ministry of discipleship. Lead with Empowerment: Foster a “leader of leaders” culture by delegating effectively, providing guidance, and empowering individuals to utilize their gifts. Broader Church Involvement Collaborative Staff Member: Actively participate and collaborate with the Stonehill staff team in leading and serving the broader church. Supportive Team Player: As a valued member of the Stonehill staff, be willing to support and contribute to other church‑wide tasks and ministries as needed, aligning with your unique skills and passions. What you bring The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Engagement Director: Education and Experience At least 5 years of full‑time experience in ministry or equivalence required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Highly Relational: You possess exceptional interpersonal skills and a natural ability to connect with and build relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. Gifted Teacher: You have a personable and engaging demeanor, capable of effectively communicating biblical truths and inspiring others in their faith journey. Theological Foundation: While preferred, a strong understanding of theological principles will be valuable in guiding discipleship efforts. Caring and Shepherding Heart: You have a genuine compassion for others and a desire to nurture their spiritual growth, providing guidance and support with empathy. Leader Development: You have a proven ability to identify, equip, and empower leaders, multiplying your impact within the ministry. Personal Characteristics and Qualifications Deep Faith: A committed and growing disciple of Jesus Christ, demonstrating a life of dependence on the Holy Spirit and a desire for obedience to Christ as Lord. Empowering Leadership: Embodies a “leader of leaders” philosophy, actively allowing, teaching, and empowering others to lead effectively. Unquestionable Integrity: Displays strong moral character, integrity beyond reproach, and unwavering honesty. Proactive and Diligent: Demonstrates personal initiative and diligence, consistently following through on tasks and commitments.
