Position Summary
The Maintenance Employee performs entry-level grounds keeping and general maintenance support duties across campus facilities. This position supports maintenance operations by assisting with outdoor upkeep, basic facility support tasks, and manual labor needs. Work is performed under close supervision and focuses on routine tasks and support of maintenance staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Performs grounds maintenance duties, including landscaping, lawn and plant care, and leaf removal.
- Assists with tree and shrub maintenance as directed.
- Maintain outdoor areas, including sidewalks, parking lots, and building exteriors.
- Assists maintenance staff, Skilled Tradesman, and supervisors with tasks and projects as directed.
- Operates basic equipment such as lawn equipment and floor buffers as assigned.
- Cleans and maintains equipment used by maintenance and custodial staff; reports equipment malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assists with moving furniture, equipment, and materials for campus operations and events.
- Assist with delivery of supplies and materials across campus.
- Assist with setup and breakdown for campus events and activities.
- Assists with special cleaning and maintenance support during school breaks and peak periods.
- Assists in maintaining floors such as: sweep, scrub, wax and polish floors, using brooms, mops and power equipment of assigned buildings.
- Assist in vacuuming and shampoo carpets and rugs.
- Reports maintenance issues and safety concerns to supervisor.
- Observes all safety regulations, uniform requirements, and college policies.
- Records and maintains accurate records of time, invoices, and materials.
- Attends required training and meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED, preferred.
- Minimum of one year of documented maintenance related work experience, preferred
- Minimum of a short-term certificate in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or related field, preferred.
- Experience in lawn care and custodial duties, preferred.
