IBEW Union Position - Starting Wage: $31.96 per hour with step increases up to $34.79 per hour.
Location:   Kalispell, MT (Onsite)

POSITION SUMMARY

Prepare and ensure that member bills are processed in a timely and accurate manner, audit bills before processing, respond to questions or complaints, and adjust bills as necessary. Also performs a variety of other clerical duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. According to a preset schedule, accurately process the monthly electric energy bills and ensure that the billing files are transmitted, via the internet, for processing, printing, and mailing. Using the pre-bill reports, check for unread meters and variance usage on meters. As necessary, send paperwork to the appropriate department for follow-up.
2. As directed and in a timely manner, monitor and process the meter reading routes data to and from the AMR System. Ensure that all readings are posted to NISC for billing.
3. Process daily billing adjustments and advance payments which include A/R adjustments and miscellaneous charges.
4. Oversee the Auto-Pays processing ensuring the preset schedule is met and are transmitted and any returns are processed.
5. Oversee the member bank return notices (NSF) from auto-pays ensuring that the appropriate charges have been posted and information documented on the member’s account.

1. Answer member questions regarding billing and capital credits; process adjustments if necessary.
2. Oversee and process inactive accounts receivable and prepare files of unpaid accounts that are to be turned over to the credit bureau and process refund checks for inactive members. Also process monthly uncollectables.
3. When requested, willingly assist other office staff in the normal daily operations of the administrative office.
4. Always assist members/vendors/employees and the general public in a courteous and professional manner ensuring their continued satisfaction with FEC. Work in harmony and show respect to all fellow employees in order to promote an effective and pleasant working environment.
5. Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor regarding situations requiring immediate attention, problems/concerns, questions, etc.
6. In pursuit of zero workplace incidents, promotes and maintains a positive safety culture while adhering to all applicable policies outlined in the Safety Manual. Reports all incidents and potential safety hazards in a timely manner to supervisor or Safety Coordinator.
7. Become familiar with and keep current with FEC objectives and applicable policies.
8. Performs other duties as assigned by management applying the same skill and enthusiasm as with regularly assigned responsibilities.

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.  

 

Job Related Experience: 1 to 4 years in office experience including electric billing methodologies, including billing fixed and variable charges as well as a knowledge of member patronage accounts.

Supervision: No Experience Supervising Required.

 

Computer Skills: Proficient on 10-key and computer, including Microsoft Office 365.

Certificates & Licenses: None required.

Other Qualifications:

• Valid Montana Driver’s License and be insurable to drive FEC vehicles.
• Present a professional appearance at all times.
• Be a team player with effective verbal and written skills.
• Able to travel occasionally out-of-area and/or overnight.
• Able to work 40 hours per week.
• Assume responsibility without direct supervision, display initiative and exercise good judgment.
• Legible handwriting.
• Basic math skills required.  
• Be organized, accurate and exercise strong attention to detail.
• Possess proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Exhibit excellent member relations and customer service skills and be able to relate one-on-one.
• This position is required to join the Union and is covered under the current CBA.
• Work schedule as defined by the Union contract, with overtime as required.
• Must have a good understanding of FEC's bylaws, policies, procedures, and rates.
• Must have a strong commitment to the cooperative principles.
• Able to effectively coordinate and follow office process and procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Will be working mostly indoors but will occasionally be required to participate in activities outdoors in all types of weather and terrain.
