Job Title: Behavioral Health RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Behavioral Health Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS and CPI Must-Have: Crisis Intervention skills Ability to assess patients' mental health status Knowledge of psychotropic medications Description: 48 hours guaranteed. The position requires coverage for three 12-hour shifts each day, seven days a week, including weekends. Days off are not guaranteed unless specified in the contract. The unit has various patient demographics, including adolescents and adults with different acuity levels. The nurse to patient ratios are appropriate for each unit's needs. Documentation is conducted using a specified system. Floating may occur based on unit needs. Patient care includes thorough assessment of mental health status and behavioral issues. Individualized care plans must be developed for patients. Administration of psychiatric medications and monitoring for side effects is required. Crisis intervention strategies must be employed as necessary. Effective communication skills are essential for building rapport with patients. Monitoring patients for physical and psychological symptoms is a critical task. Candidates should be familiar with unit-specific policies and guidelines. Any awards or recognition that highlight the department’s achievements are also beneficial for prospective candidates. This position offers opportunities to work with experienced staff and utilize new equipment or technology.
