The technical engineering leader will be a hands-on lead engineer with technical/business acumen and leadership experience that excels in a structured, dynamic, fast-moving environment and is passionate about developing high quality, high performance, and scalable solutions. The candidate will lead and work aside a team of seasoned engineers whose main objective is to maintain all aspects of the system health and ensure the on-time, quality delivery of software releases. This position could be located in Austin, TX or Southlake, TX This position will be part of the Operational Data Exchange (ODX) Technology team within the Schwab Data organization focusing on providing Operational Intelligence and Insights, and position Schwab to remain a Data Driven organization using a world class Data Exchange (DX) platform. The DX support various critical business functions and business units – Schwab Technology Services (STS), Audit, Corporate Tax, Risk, Compliance, etc. This is a role for someone who is passionate and excited to learn/understand the corporate systems, build a solid team, focus on basics and streamline existing system to make it stable, and build a future state data platform that is going to be pivotal to drive client-centricity, reducing time to market, scale & increasing efficiency. Cultivate a culture of open feedback that promotes accountability for getting better together.Collaborate with other shared functions to support application support and automation for deployments.Interface with product owner and key stakeholders in Project Management, Business, Development, QA and Technology Operations to ensure high quality delivery of software projects on time and on budget.Identify technology risks and dependencies early to establish mitigation plans.Create and maintain artifacts for production support and deployment processes and ensure smooth hand off to support teams. Meet periodically with onshore and offshore developers and application support to review and improve processes.What you haveRequiredExpertise in ETL development, Data Architecture, Data Modeling, Data Quality, Best Practices, Exception HandlingSQL, Google Cloud Products including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Composer, Pub/Sub, SQL Server Integration ServicesExpertise in Informatica (IDMC/IICS) and Python coding skillsUsed AI in development lifecycle to gain efficiencyBusiness Analysis experience to perform data analysis and guide analysts to translate business requirements to data mappingExceptional track record in delivering results and business outcomesMaster’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or similar/equivalent area of studyMinimum of 5 years working in the financial services industry.Minimum of 10-12 years of solid data engineering experience.Minimum of 3 years strategic project leadership and delivery experience in matrixed organizationStrong understanding of Data Warehouse concepts (star schema, slowly changing dimensions, fact/dimension modeling) and Operational Data Exchanges/Stores.Solid understanding of data lifecycle, metadata management, and governance standards.Good understanding of latest Architecture and Development Standards and GuidelinesWillingness to learn new skills and keep up with technology changes in future to meet business needs.Demonstrated ability to disagree, debate your case with data, and commit to deliver regardless of the outcome.Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for composing and delivering technical presentations or other forms of documentation to various levels of technical and non-technical management.Prior experience working with vendor resources in an onshore-offshore model and driving delivery and collaboration for maximum output.Implement data security controls and access management policies to protect sensitive information.PreferredExperience working with and sourcing data from Corporate Systems like Workday, BMC Remedy Helix, Jira, Rally, etc. Experience providing guidance, direction, and feedback to other technical staff to meet agreed upon objectives.Ability to analyze, propose and implement timely, cost effective, quality solutions for all issues or problems within area of responsibility.Proficient managing multiple priorities in a well-organized, dynamic, geographically dispersed environmentExperience implementing streaming and event driven solutions using Confluent KafkaData Visualization including report design, use or reporting toolsExperience in dev tools such as GitHub, Bamboo, Liquibase Experience and demonstrate proficiency in cloud-based technologies (GCP preferred).In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.This position will be located in our Southlake, TX location.
