Primary Purpose:

Direct and manage overall campus operations while providing visionary instructional leadership to ensure high levels of student achievement, college, career, and military readiness (CCMR), and continuous school improvement aligned to the Texas A F Accountability System. Responsible for leadership of the campus instructional program, ensuring rigorous instruction through the effective implementation of High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM), Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS), data-driven instruction, and systems of intervention and support.

The principal must possess the skills necessary to effectively collaborate with faculty and staff, including a deep understanding of adult learning theory (andragogy), instructional coaching, and organizational development. The principal must demonstrate the ability to utilize diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment data to drive instructional improvement, implement school turnaround practices, improve campus accountability outcomes, and support the development of highly effective teachers and leaders.

The principal is also responsible for ensuring effective supervision, management, and monitoring of extracurricular and co-curricular programs, including athletics, UIL academic programs, band, fine arts, student organizations, and all school-sponsored activities.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

• Master's degree in educational administration
• Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
• Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) appraiser

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Extensive knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and accountability systems aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
• Strong understanding of the Texas A F Accountability System, CCMR indicators, graduation requirements, and college and career readiness expectations
• Knowledge and implementation of High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) and Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS)
• Ability to lead school improvement and campus turnaround initiatives using strategic planning and continuous improvement systems
• Strong understanding of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), restorative practices, and student support systems
• Ability to analyze and interpret multiple forms of student achievement and performance data to improve instructional outcomes
• Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
• Ability to coach teachers and instructional leaders to improve classroom instruction and student engagement
• Ability to manage budget, personnel, and campus operations effectively
• Ability to implement district policies, procedures, and operational systems
• Strong knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules, regulations, eligibility requirements, and compliance procedures
• Ability to supervise and support comprehensive extracurricular and co-curricular programs including athletics, fine arts, band, cheer, academic UIL, clubs, and student organizations
• Ability to ensure appropriate supervision, safety, and operational oversight of all extracurricular events and student activities including athletic competitions, performances, and school-sponsored events
• Knowledge of risk management, student safety protocols, crowd management, and event supervision procedures
• Excellent organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to foster collaboration, shared leadership, and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Experience:

• 3 years' experience as a classroom teacher
• 3 years' experience in instructional leadership roles
• Experience improving student achievement and leading campus improvement initiatives preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Management

1. Monitor instructional processes to ensure that instructional practices, interventions, and campus programs are aligned to campus goals, TEKS, HQIM implementation, and Texas accountability expectations.
2. Lead the implementation and monitoring of rigorous curriculum, High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM), and Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS) to improve student achievement and CCMR outcomes.
3. Utilize diagnostic, formative, benchmark, and summative assessment data to identify instructional strengths and gaps and implement targeted corrective actions and intervention systems.
4. Provide instructional resources, professional development, and coaching support necessary to accomplish instructional goals and improve teacher effectiveness.
5. Establish clear expectations for staff performance regarding instructional delivery, student engagement, classroom management, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), academic rigor, and communication with stakeholders.
6. Foster collegiality, collaboration, and team building among staff members while promoting professional learning communities focused on continuous improvement.
7. Encourage active staff involvement in campus planning, decision-making, and instructional improvement processes.
8. Solicit regular input from campus-level committees regarding planning, supervision, operation, and evaluation of campus educational programs. Include students and community representatives when appropriate.

School or Organization Improvement

1. Build and communicate a shared vision for school improvement focused on high expectations, academic achievement, CCMR readiness, graduation success, and positive student outcomes.
2. Lead campus turnaround efforts and continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve student performance and increase campus accountability ratings under the Texas A F Accountability System.
3. Establish measurable campus performance objectives aligned to district goals, accountability indicators, CCMR targets, and campus improvement priorities using the site-based decision-making process.
4. Monitor campus progress toward performance goals using multiple data sources and implement strategic interventions to address identified needs.
5. Ensure fidelity of implementation for district instructional initiatives, intervention systems, PBIS frameworks, and campus improvement plans.
6. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, equity, collaboration, and academic excellence for all students.
7. Provide opportunities for effective communication and collaboration among the superintendent, staff, students, parents, and community stakeholders.

Student Management

1. Act as campus behavior coordinator in accordance with state laws, district policies, and regulations.
2. Work collaboratively with faculty and students to develop and maintain a student discipline management system that promotes positive student behavior, accountability, safety, and a positive school climate.
3. Ensure school rules and disciplinary procedures are consistently and equitably applied in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
4. Implement proactive systems and supports that address student attendance, behavior, academic progress, mental health, social-emotional learning, and graduation readiness.
5. Conduct conferences regarding student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers as needed.

Management of Fiscal, Administrative, and Facilities Functions

1. Comply with district policies and all state and federal laws and regulations affecting schools and educational programs.
2. Develop and administer campus budgets based on documented program needs, strategic priorities, and projected enrollment while ensuring cost-effective operations and responsible stewardship of resources.
3. Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and documents, including accurate and timely attendance, accountability, and compliance reports.
4. Manage campus facilities and operations to ensure a clean, orderly, safe, and supportive learning environment.
5. Oversee campus safety procedures, emergency preparedness systems, and operational protocols to ensure student and staff safety.
6. Direct and manage extracurricular, co-curricular, and intramural programs, including the management of multiple activity funds and student organizations.
7. Ensure effective supervision, monitoring, and operational oversight of all extracurricular and co-curricular activities including athletic events, UIL competitions, band performances, fine arts events, student organizations, and school-sponsored activities.
8. Ensure compliance with UIL rules, eligibility requirements, district policies, and state regulations related to extracurricular and competitive programs.
9. Coordinate with sponsors, coaches, directors, and activity leaders to ensure student safety, appropriate supervision, transportation procedures, event management, and positive student participation during all extracurricular activities and events.
10. Monitor extracurricular programs to ensure alignment with campus expectations for academic achievement, student conduct, sportsmanship, and organizational excellence.

Personnel Management

1. Select, train, supervise, support, and evaluate campus personnel and make recommendations regarding assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
2. Observe employee performance, conduct evaluations, and provide timely feedback through the T-TESS process and other district evaluation systems.
3. Coach teaching staff and instructional leaders using the T-TESS framework and evidence-based instructional practices to improve teaching effectiveness and student outcomes.
4. Support teachers and staff in identifying professional growth opportunities aligned to campus priorities, instructional needs, and accountability goals.
5. Develop leadership capacity among teachers, instructional leaders, and campus staff through mentoring, coaching, and collaborative learning opportunities.
6. Work collaboratively with campus-level planning and decision-making committees to plan and implement meaningful professional development aligned to campus improvement goals.
7. Build and sustain a positive campus culture focused on professionalism, accountability, collaboration, and student success.

School or Community Relations

1. Articulate the school's mission, vision, and goals to the community and actively solicit support in achieving campus objectives.
2. Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs and initiate activities and partnerships to meet those needs while encouraging meaningful parent and community involvement.
3. Maintain strong relationships with families, businesses, higher education institutions, and community organizations to support student achievement and CCMR opportunities.
4. Communicate campus successes, challenges, and improvement efforts effectively with all stakeholders.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring and dismissal of staff assigned to campus including assistant principal(s), dean(s) of instruction, teachers, counselor(s), librarian(s), instructional aides, clerical support staff, custodians, coaches, sponsors, directors, and other assigned personnel.
