About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience on the cardiac floor required. License: Active nursing license required. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Cardiac Telemetry experience - PCU or step-down unit experience - Sheath removal skills - Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias - Experience with post myocardial infarction care - Pre/post cardiac catheterization experience - Ability to manage cardiac drips - Chest tube management - Non-invasive airway management skills Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO could possibly lead to a cancellation and DNR. Travelers must have a minimum of 24 months of cardiac experience unless they have prior traveler experience. Candidates will be expected to float according to unit rotations. Weekend requirements include working four shifts in a four-week period, which is flexible. Contract staff may be assigned to a storm or hurricane team. They may be required to report to work during catastrophic events or mass casualties. Patient diagnoses managed on the unit include atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, coronary artery disease, and various valve disorders. The unit also deals with conditions such as endocarditis and cardiomyopathy, among others. Special procedures performed include CABG, AVR, and TAVR, and various other cardiac and thoracic surgeries. Familiarity with special equipment such as EKGs and chest tubes is essential. The unit operates with varying patient-to-nurse ratios depending on acuity levels. Daily census typically consists of adults and geriatric patients. Interdisciplinary support is available from various departments, ensuring comprehensive patient care.
