Maintenance Technician IV (Sr. Maintenance Technician)The Sr. Maintenance Technician is a practical technical specialist who handles complex troubleshooting, repairs, and ensures the reliability of advanced automated material handling systems. This position is essential to each shift, contributing to automation uptime, and working collaboratively with Maintenance Leadership, Reliability teams, and PLC Engineering to help avoid recurring breakdowns. This role provides coaching & guidance to other Maintenance Technicians II & III.ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and repair complex issues across automated systems including:Conveyance (MDR, belt, sortation)ASRS / shuttle systemsPick modules, print & apply, scannersLead response to system-down or chronic fault conditionsPerform advanced mechanical, electrical, and controls-related troubleshootingRestore equipment safely and efficiently to minimize downtime and service impactExecute and improve preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM) activitiesIdentify failure trends and recommend corrective actions to Maintenance LeadershipSupport root cause analysis (RCA) for repeat or high-impact failuresEnsure PM work is completed to standard and documented accurately in the CMMSServe as technical escalation point for Maintenance Tech II & IIICoach and mentor Maintenance Technicians II & III on troubleshooting best practicesSupport onboarding and skills development of new techniciansModel strong safety, quality, and ownership behaviors on the floorCollaboration & Continuous ImprovementPartner with:PLC Engineers for controls-related issues and logic changesReliability / Asset Analyst on equipment performance and lifecycle improvementsOperations during recovery, start-ups, and flow disruptionsParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase uptime, throughput, and safetyProvide feedback on equipment design issues and maintainability concernsQualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEDBachelor Degree preferred5 + years of maintenance experience in an automated distribution, manufacturing, or industrial environmentStrong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skillsProven experience working with automated material handling equipmentAbility to read and interpret:Electrical schematicsMechanical drawingsOEM manualsComfortable working in a fast-paced, high-availability operationExperience with PLC-controlled systems (troubleshooting at I/O and fault level; no programming required) preferredCMMS experience (PM execution, work order documentation)Exposure to reliability concepts (MTBF, MTTR, RCA) preferredTechnical certifications or trade school background (electrical, mechatronics, industrial maintenance) preferredSkillsAdvanced troubleshooting and critical thinkingStrong sense of urgency and ownershipAbility to remain calm and methodical during system outagesClear communication with both technical and non-technical partnersSafety-first mindset in a highly automated environmentPhysical & Work RequirementsAbility to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, OT and holidays as requiredAbility to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift up to standard maintenance limitsComfortable working around automated and energized equipment in compliance with safety standardsFree To Be, Inclusion & DiversityAs a purpose-led, performance driven company, we strive to foster a culture of belonging based on respect, connection, openness and authenticity.
