HR Benefits Specialist

Our client, a luxury fashion brand , is seeking a temporary HR Benefits Specialist (Leave of Absence focus) to support the administration of employee leave and workplace accommodation programs. This hybrid role in NYC will serve as a key resource for employees, leaders, and HR partners, ensuring compliant, accurate, and employee-focused management of leave, disability, and accommodation processes. Job Duties Include Manage leave of absence and workplace accommodation cases from initiation through return to work Facilitate the interactive accommodation process, including documentation review, assessments, and ongoing case management Partner with employees, managers, HR, payroll, and third-party administrators to ensure seamless leave administration Administer and monitor FMLA, disability, and other federal, state, and local leave programs Provide guidance on leave policies, accommodations, and related benefits programs Maintain accurate, compliant, and confidential employee records and documentation Coordinate with third-party vendors and insurance providers to resolve claims and case-related issues Support return-to-work planning and employee reintegration efforts Prepare reports, analyze trends, and identify opportunities for process improvement Assist with policy updates, compliance initiatives, and ongoing program enhancements Additional duties as assigned Job Qualifications Include 5+ years of experience in leave of absence, disability, accommodations, or employee benefits administration Strong knowledge of ADA, FMLA, disability programs, and applicable leave regulations Experience managing workplace accommodations and the interactive process Experience partnering with third-party leave and disability administrators Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills High level of professionalism, discretion, and empathy when handling sensitive employee matters Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously Analytical mindset with experience reviewing reports and identifying trends Proficiency in HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite Experience with HR reporting and data analysis preferred Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred SHRM certification or related leave administration credentials are a plus Pay : $30/hr The description above is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and is not an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, and qualifications required.
