Senior Construction Project Manager (Greater Pittsburgh Region)

We are partnering with an established and growing residential homebuilder seeking an experienced Senior Construction Project Manager to oversee the successful execution of residential construction projects and community developments.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a construction professional with extensive experience managing residential homebuilding projects from initial site development through final home delivery. The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of project management expertise, construction knowledge, financial discipline, and leadership skills.

The Senior Construction Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing construction schedules, budgets, subcontractors, field personnel, and overall project performance. This individual will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Execution

• Manage all phases of residential construction projects, including pre-construction planning, site preparation, permitting, vertical construction, inspections, and final home delivery.
• Oversee the construction of multiple homes simultaneously within residential communities.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, ensuring critical milestones and completion deadlines are achieved.
• Coordinate construction activities with land development, purchasing, architecture, sales, and other internal departments.
• Proactively identify and resolve scheduling conflicts, construction challenges, and project delays.
• Monitor overall project progress, ensuring compliance with established construction standards, building codes, and safety requirements.
• Provide regular project updates to senior leadership, including schedules, budgets, risks, and operational performance.

Budget Management & Cost Control

• Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets to ensure financial objectives are achieved.
• Track construction costs, purchase orders, change orders, and subcontractor expenses.
• Identify potential cost overruns and implement corrective measures to protect project profitability.
• Partner with purchasing and operations teams to manage material costs, vendor pricing, and subcontractor performance.
• Evaluate project performance and identify opportunities to improve construction efficiency and cost effectiveness.

Subcontractor & Team Leadership

• Direct and coordinate the activities of all site personnel
• Establish clear project expectations, schedules, quality standards, and performance objectives.
• Conduct regular jobsite meetings and inspections to monitor construction progress and address issues.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and other construction partners.
• Mentor and develop field personnel while promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Quality Assurance & Customer Satisfaction

• Ensure homes are constructed according to approved plans, specifications, and quality standards.
• Oversee quality inspections, punch lists, final walkthroughs, and homebuyer closings.
• Partner with sales and customer service teams to provide a positive homebuyer experience.
• Resolve construction-related issues efficiently while maintaining strong customer relationships.
• Coordinate warranty-related matters and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence

• Evaluate existing construction processes and recommend improvements to scheduling, cost management, quality, and productivity.
• Implement project management best practices to improve consistency and efficiency across residential developments.
• Monitor project performance metrics and develop strategies to improve construction cycle times.
• Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive residential construction and project management experience , preferably with a production or semi-custom homebuilder.
• Proven experience managing residential construction projects from pre-construction through completion.
• Demonstrated success overseeing multiple homes, construction schedules, budgets, and subcontractor relationships.
• Strong understanding of residential construction methods, building codes, permitting, inspections, and safety regulations.
• Experience managing project budgets, controlling costs, and maintaining construction timelines.
• Strong leadership skills with experience directing construction teams and trade contractors.
• Excellent organizational, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Proficiency with construction scheduling, budgeting, and project management software preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
