Railcar Repair Technician

Overview Transco Rail Services is part of Marmon Holdings, a Berkshire Hathaway company, delivering full‑service railcar repair and maintenance across North America. Responsibilities Conduct all aspects of repair and maintenance on tank cars. Lead and work with a team while maintaining a safety‑conscious approach. Apply current repair procedures and perform railcar inspections to ensure compliance. Provide customer support that meets all customer expectations and ensures satisfaction. Complete clerical duties, including invoicing, inspection records, and work order information. Maintain and update all required certifications, demonstrating familiarity with AAR rules and regulations. Travel up to 50%, including weekly local travel, regional day trips, and potential overnight travel as needed. Perform other work‑related tasks as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Mechanical aptitude with problem‑solving and decision‑making skills. Ability to use hand tools such as pipe wrenches, pry bars, wrenches, ratchets, and equipment for cutting and grinding weld slag or spatter. Experience in basic railcar repairs and inspections. Strong customer‑relations skills and teamwork ability. Commitment to safety and proper procedures. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Valid driver’s license. Physical Requirements Can stoop for extended periods and move from kneeling to standing. Can lift up to 50 pounds from the ground surface. Can climb ladders and work at elevated heights. Can perform a FIT Test and wear a respirator. Must pass company physical exam, drug screening, and background check.
