Surgical Technologist - Cardiovascular Operating Room

Schedule: Days, 10 hours, Variable Day Shifts

Assignment Details:

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Guaranteed Hours: 40

Requirements:

• 5+ years of CVOR experience
• Open heart experience
• Ability to float to General OR if needed
• Experience in a tertiary care center and/or designated level I or II trauma center
• Skills checklist current to 1 year, pertinent to the specialty (CVOR)
• 2 supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification
• Active NBSTSA Certification

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures, with the ability to problem-solve related to the procedure being performed.
• Verify items on the physician preference card and ensure accountability for supplies to accurately bill patient charges.
• Properly use, assemble, clean, and sterilize equipment and disposables, ensuring all items are in working condition for surgeries.
• Maintain sterile environments by monitoring the sterile field and recognizing breaks in sterile technique.
• Set up sterile fields with instruments expediently and keep an accurate account of medications, sponges, instruments, and sharps on the sterile fields according to policy.

Compliance / Notes:

On-call rate for CVOR is $9. On-call: 1-2 call nights per week & every third weekend. Every third weekend required.
