Roles and Responsibilities
- Receive, store, and issue ammunition, ammunition components, and ammunition-related material.
- Conduct periodic inventories of ammunition, ammunition components, and ammunition-related material.
- Maintain and update magazine data cards, ammunition store slips, storage plan-o-graphs, and related documentation.
- Interpret ammunition storage data and transportation drawings for DOT shipments.
- Load and unload explosives-laden vehicles.
- Perform 100% inspection of all returned residue to ensure it is explosive-free.
- Process ammunition issues and turn-ins in accordance with established procedures.
- Perform ammunition accountabilities defect-free.
- Ensure all ammunition is inspected and sealed by a QASAS prior to storage in bunkers.
- Maintain worksites to company lean standards to enhance production.
- Perform housekeeping of worksites and clear brush from fence lines to 10 feet on both sides.
- Support and participate in the Company Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) and QA program.
- Comply with ammunition DoD instructions, DoD and U.S. Army regulations and pamphlets, company SOPs, local work instructions, and procedures.
- Wear prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ensure equipment is properly dispatched using a dispatch logbook and perform daily PMCS.
- Maintain accountability for and properly operate assigned equipment.
- Maintain a company driver's license and complete forklift recertification at least every three years.
- Observe policies, procedures, and regulatory guidance for explosive safety and OSHA/CALOSHA requirements.
- Observe strict key control procedures.
- Follow all policies, procedures, and regulatory guidance regarding physical security.
- Train and cross-train coworkers and other personnel.
- Attend assigned training sessions.
- Annually recertify for AMMO 68.
- Comply with all company rules, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain positive interactions with internal and external customers.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Must be able to work under stressful circumstances and meet short suspense dates.
- Must be free of medical restrictions that prevent the performance of required duties or the use of PPE.
- Must be physically capable of working in extreme temperatures, low humidity, rain, blowing sand, and dust.
- Must utilize proper lifting procedures and material handling practices.
- May be required to work extended hours, nights, weekends, holidays, and other uncommon duty schedules.
- Operate material handling equipment (MHE) to maneuver ammunition.
- Be capable of performing ammunition supply stock control and accounting duties using automated and manual procedures when directed by the U.S. Government.
- Must be capable of lifting at least 50 pounds unassisted, stooping, bending, climbing, and possess normal color vision.
- Must comply with DA PAM 611-21 physical qualification requirements.
- Must be able to perform receiving, storing, and issuing of conventional ammunition, guided missiles, large rockets, explosives, and ammunition-related items in accordance with applicable Army and DoD regulations.
- Assist in alternate project areas as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of ammunition and hazardous material handling to ensure the safe receipt, storage, issue, and movement of ammunition, explosives, chemicals, or radioactive materials in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance and possess the background necessary to access government computer systems.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in military ammunition supply, installation support services, ASP operations, or equivalent support operations.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must possess a valid State Real ID.
- Must possess a valid California Class C driver's license (or obtain the required license within 10 days of employment if relocating from another state).
- Must be able to obtain a military operator's permit for required vehicles and equipment.
- Must meet FORSCOM Regulation 350-10 certification requirements.
- Should be qualified at a level meeting or exceeding the technical qualifications required of a U.S. Army Ammunition Specialist (89 CMF) or civilian equivalent.
- Must meet TASP certification requirements and be subject to review by the NTC TASP Certification Board.
- Licensed forklift operator (4K to 6K capacity).
- Knowledge of pallet building, including 463L pallet preparation for ammunition shipments.
- HAZMAT certification.
- Strong understanding of U.S. Army and DoD ammunition regulations.
- Advanced knowledge of military ASP operations, preferably U.S. Army.
- Ability to complete AMMO 31, 45, 63, and 68 certifications within 90 days of assignment (with AMMO 68 maintained annually thereafter).
- Prior service as an MOS 89B (Ammunition Specialist) or similar military occupational specialty.
- Prior military and/or contingency operations experience.
