Essential Functions Night‑shift responsibilities include performing comprehensive assessments of the patient's physical, social, and psychological status (including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills as appropriate), seeking and evaluating information from interdisciplinary team members such as patients, families, physicians, non‑nursing disciplines, and support staff. Planning: Uses assessment information and critical thinking skills to collaboratively develop individualized plans of care, actively involving patient, family, team, and physician. Implements education and prepares patients for further support (teaching, referrals, follow‑up) once current episode outcomes are met. Implementation: Directs the interdisciplinary care team through delegation, coordination, and collaboration; provides or delegates care consistent with the plan of care, guidelines, and professional licensure provisions; sets priorities and coordinates resources, managing time and supplies effectively. Evaluation: Evaluates patient response to interventions by reviewing achievement of goals, clinical outcomes, and satisfaction of patient and family. Revises and reassesses plan of care as indicated. Professionalism: Promotes the nursing profession, participates in the development of others, integrates legal and ethical standards into practice, complies with regulatory standards, practices within scope of licensure, provides accurate and timely documentation, and understands legal implications of care delivery. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment. RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of their hire date. Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required as of the last update on 4/27/2025. Employees hired or promoted prior to this date will be held to the minimum requirements at the time of their promotion or hire. Physical Requirements The role requires ongoing ability to see, read, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment, and read labels. Frequent verbal communication and rapid listening are required during patient care and emergency situations. Manual dexterity is needed to handle delicate equipment and frequent computer use for documentation, medication preparation, and information access. Employees must lift, transfer, and move patients and supplies, including bending, carrying, and pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment of varying weights. Prolonged standing is expected. Driving responsibilities, if applicable, require navigation of traffic and reading signs.
