Job Overview As a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse), you will support the operations of a Plasma Donation Center under the guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and communicate unsuitable results to donors. Your role also involves supporting vaccination programs, handling employee incidents, and serving as Pandemic Coordinator when needed. Responsibilities Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent management, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE). Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies according to SOPs, including standing orders for the Center Physician and donor transport to emergency facilities. Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical or technical issues. Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees. Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/ER for further evaluation. Follow EHS guidance regarding incidents. Act as Pandemic Coordinator, when authorized by EHS, and support investigations related to pandemic threats in the local community. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; graduate‑level nursing program with state requirements accepted. License or certification in the state of assignment: EMT‑Paramedic. Current CPR and AED certification. Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy. Completion of FDA‑approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist. Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
