Job Overview Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reports to the Plasma Center Manager and supports plasma center operations. Responsibilities include donor eligibility determination, management of donor adverse events, review of laboratory test results, and donor notification of unsuitable results. The role works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. Responsibilities Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE). Manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable results. Evaluate donor reaction(s) and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities. Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs regarding unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility. Support the HepatitisB and SeasonalFlu vaccination programs for employees. Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, referencing EHS guidance. Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements. Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT‑Paramedic. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification. Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy. Complete the FDA‑approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist. Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting. Compensation and Benefits Location: USA – MT – Missoula. Hourly wage range: $23.04 – $31.68. Actual hourly wage offered may depend on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
