Clinical Nurse Coordinator Behavioral Health Unit

Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, an affiliate of HCA Virginia Health System, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for our Behavioral Health Unit. In this role, you will function as a working RN leader at the bedside, providing direct patient care while coordinating the clinical operations of the unit during your shift. You will support a patient population with acute and chronic behavioral health needs, ensuring safe, compassionate, and therapeutic care in alignment with our commitment to teamwork, patient-centered service, and professional growth.

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will collaborate closely with psychiatrists, hospitalists, social workers, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans. You will help oversee daily patient flow, including admissions, discharges, and transfers; monitor staffing levels and assignments; and serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff and support personnel. You will use advanced assessment skills to recognize changes in patient condition, intervene promptly during behavioral health crises, and lead de-escalation efforts using evidence-based techniques.

Responsibilities include supervising the quality and consistency of nursing documentation, promoting adherence to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best practices in behavioral health, and supporting performance improvement initiatives. You will assist with staff education, precept new team members, and foster a supportive environment where nurses can grow clinically and professionally. You will also help coordinate patient and family education related to diagnoses, medications, safety planning, and community resources to support successful transitions of care.
