Assoc Fire Alarm Sys Tech

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an Associate Fire Alarm Systems Technician with basic programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting capabilities. The role will work closely with the sales team, field project teams, and clients to ensure sound design, seamless installation, and successful commissioning of fire alarm solutions. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING Assist with producing field surveys and daily project logs of activity. Assist with the programming and commissioning of fire alarm systems, leading to final acceptance by customers and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs). Assist in the production of detailed commissioning and inspection reports in accordance with NFPA. Assist with complex troubleshooting and effective resolution. Assist in delivering projects on schedule and within cost budgets. Assist with programming systems via laptop computers. Provide support, guidance, and expertise to other technicians. Comply with industry standard procedures and Sciens safety programs/policies. WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU High school diploma or equivalent. Up to two years of experience in the fire‑life safety industry. Ability to program and commission small–mid range fire alarm systems. Basic understanding of fire alarm circuit integrity and troubleshooting for circuit opens, shorts, or ground conditions. Ability to perform basic repairs such as battery or field device replacement. Basic understanding of small systems programming. Ability to learn and safely use standard trade tools. State, local, contract, and/or product‑specific certifications as required by the business. Actively pursuing NICET I or higher certification. Desire to learn how to read and interpret drawings. Ability to work under tight deadlines with a sense of urgency. Ability to work independently with some supervision. Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and ability to obtain OSHA10 certification. Effective organizational, decision‑making, and communication skills. Physical fitness to lift up to 25pounds routinely and up to 50pounds occasionally; ability to work from heights, climb ladders, and stand/walk for most of the workday.
