Job Details

Responsibilities:

As a Property Accountant, your primary responsibilities will include:

1. Managing all aspects of accounting for a portfolio of properties, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
2. Performing month-end-close procedures, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
3. Managing tenant receivables, including billing, collections, and reporting.
4. Preparing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for each property, working closely with property managers and other stakeholders.
5. Assisting with year-end audit preparation and tax filings.
6. Implementing and maintaining internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as applicable laws and regulations.
7. Providing financial analysis and recommendations to support decision-making processes.
8. Collaborating with various teams to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the quality of our financial reporting.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for the Property Accountant role will have:

1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in property accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
3. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, especially as they relate to property accounting.
4. Proficiency in month-end-close procedures and tenant receivables management.
5. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
7. Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
8. A professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, or CA) would be considered an asset.
