Business Development Manager

Engineering Leader Position

Seeking an experienced engineering leader responsible for business development, financial performance, and staff management at the local departmental level.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Coordinate strategic growth initiatives with office and practice leadership
• Establish and expand market presence through marketing and business development efforts
• Manage departmental budget and allocate resources based on project and business needs
• Lead and contribute to proposal development and submissions
• Serve as a technical resource for project managers and technical staff
• Identify staffing needs and oversee recruitment for the department
• Conduct interviews and hire qualified personnel
• Perform staff evaluations with input from project managers
• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to team members, including setting goals, offering feedback, and supporting professional development through regular check-ins

Nonessential Functions

• Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited institution
• Licensed Professional Engineer
• 10+ years of experience in a relevant discipline
• Proven experience in project management and business development
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with working with public sector clients at the local and state level
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience

Working Conditions

• Work is primarily conducted in a standard office setting
• May involve periods of sitting, with occasional standing and walking
• Office environment includes adequate lighting, temperature control, and minimal noise or disruption
