About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 06:45 - 19:15 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2+ Years License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS, Telemetry Must-Have: - Telemetry competency - Ability to manage 6-7 patients depending on the shift - Experience in urology and bowel care Description: This role is within a general surgical unit. The unit includes 44 beds and a dedicated staff of 75. Staffing on day shift consists of 1 charge nurse, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 unit secretary. Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 10 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 unit secretary. Patient ratios are 1:6 on the day shift and 1:7 on the night shift. The unit utilizes telemetry, PCA, wound vacs, Baxter IV pumps, TPN, tube feeds, and urinary catheters. EMR is Cerner. Typical procedures performed in this unit include: - TPN administration - PCA management - Wound vac applications - Tube feedings, including PEG tubes, Dobhoff and NG tubes - Colostomies and urostomies - Managing various drains such as biliary, JP, nephrostomy, and urinary catheters - Heparin drips and IV antibiotics - Surgical procedures like cholecystectomies, appendectomies, bowel resections, and others The ideal candidate should have a positive, engaging demeanor. Energetic and fast-paced work ethic is essential. Good communication skills are required with the charge nurse, unit secretary, providers, and CNA team. Weekend shifts are included in the schedule. Dress code consists of navy blue pants and either navy blue or white scrub tops, with white undershirts permitted. No sweaters, sweatshirts, hoodies, coats, or jackets are allowed. This position is a contractor replacement.
