Continued employment in this role is contingent upon the availability and continuation of external grant funding. BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: The Career & Technical Education (CTE) Program Assistant provides district-level operational and logistical support for Career and Technical Education programs. This position assists the CTE department with daily program operations, including field trips, work-based learning experiences, industry-based certification testing, inventory management, lab and shop maintenance, equipment operations, and program support. This position serves as a flexible district resource supporting CTE programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED required Valid Texas driver’s license required Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of Career & Technical Education programs and industry-aligned learning environments Ability to manage inventory, maintain records, and track equipment Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, administrators, vendors, and community partners Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe learning and working environment Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks Ability to operate basic lab equipment within CTE classrooms Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student information Ability to drive district vehicles and safely transport students Preferred Experience: Experience working in Career & Technical Education programs, workforce environments, industry settings, or skilled trades Experience managing equipment, tools, inventory, or instructional materials Experience working with secondary students Knowledge of CTE programs, industry-based certifications, and workforce readiness initiatives CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the characteristic duties, responsibilities, knowledge, skills, and abilities noted herein; however, this is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions found in this job description. CTE Program Operations Support Assist with daily operations and implementation of district CTE initiatives. Assist with logistics for CTE events, student experiences, competitions, showcases, and program activities. Assist with preparation and organization of CTE materials, supplies, equipment, and instructional resources. Assist with CTE-related field trips, industry visits, career exploration activities, classroom rotations logistics, and student events. Support student supervision during CTE-related activities while following district safety procedures and expectations. Assist with administration/proctoring of Industry-Based Certification testing and maintain confidentiality related to testing Assist with district CTE inventory processes, including: equipment tracking, supply organization, asset verification, inventory documentation, equipment relocation Support preventative maintenance processes for CTE equipment and facilities. Assist with receiving, organizing, labeling, storing, and distributing CTE supplies and equipment. Administrative and Department Support Maintain accurate documentation related to assigned responsibilities. Participate in district professional development and safety training as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None. MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; occasional use of power tools, vehicles, and machinery to ensure proper working condition Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; repetitive motions (opening and closing bay/shop doors) Lifting: Occasional heavy lifting and carrying ( up to 50 pounds) Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior office or CTE lab work environment. Exposure to equipment in CTE classroom and lab settings to include: construction, welding, automotive, health science, greenhouse, culinary, audio video, and other programs of study. Frequent transporting of students and driving in district vehicles (suburban, truck, minibus) in occasional adverse weather and road conditions.
