ER Tech
Provides basic care to patients under the direct supervision of a nurse, including activities of daily living, obtaining and documenting vital signs, maintaining and stock supplies, applying simple dressings and other basic treatment as delegated by the nurse. Care is provided safely, effectively, and efficiently.
Essential functions include performing basic nursing care based upon patients' age-related needs, ensuring that the patient and other rooms are kept clean and orderly, observing patients' condition and reporting changes to the nurse, accurately ordering supply for the department, performing the quality measures and the testing for Point of care testing in the department, performing clerical duties related to order entry, registration, discharge and other duties as assigned in the absence of coordinators, assisting in transporting patients throughout the organization, and collecting capillary and venous specimens from patients and/or establishing IV access, assuring correct identity of the patients using aseptic techniques.
General job requirements include being a student nurse in a program, an EMT or having completed a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant program, having 1-3 years of related experience preferably in the ER, EKG and phlebotomy skills preferred, and CPR certification required.
