Medical Surgical Oncology RN

Looking for a Medical Surgical Oncology RN for a cancer specialty hospital. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a medical-surgical oncology setting. Experience with administration of chemotherapy and management of cytotoxic spills is necessary. Ability to monitor chemotherapy and recognize abnormal lab values is essential. Candidates should possess skills in administering various therapies, including antibiotics, antiemetics, and corticosteroids. Experience with care of patients with bladder, kidney, breast, colorectal, liver, lung, ovarian/uterine, pancreatic, and prostate cancer is required. Candidates must be prepared for weekends and floating to other units as needed. Effective communication and patient/family education skills are vital. Preferred experience includes biotherapy, administration of bone marrow, and care of patients with leukemia, lymphoma, and melanoma. Additional skills in IV therapy, pain management, wound care, and support for advanced directives and hospice care are advantageous. Familiarity with isolation precautions and neutropenic precautions is important.
