Senior Software Engineer

Senior Software EngineerAt UpGuard, we are replacing manual security bottlenecks with AI-driven precision. Fresh off a US$75M Series C, we are scaling our infrastructure to process 100 billion risk signals daily. This isn't just growth; it's a total reimagining of how the world manages cyber risk.We build the Cyber Risk Posture Management (CRPM) platform that security teams actually love. By integrating security ratings, threat intel, and agentic AI, we empower organisations to stay ahead of an ever evolving attack surface. We aren't just building another tool; we're defining a category. We provide the autonomy to ship world-class technology and the resources to do it at a global scale. We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to own a feature area within our Product Engineering team. You'll be the engineer your product manager turns to for "is this possible, and how big is it", leading technical design for your area and seeing it through to production. You'll shape how your squad builds, mentor the engineers around you, and have real influence over what we ship for customers who depend on us to understand their cyber risk. You'll join one of our 11 (and growing) Product Engineering squads, most of which have a product manager, designer and technical lead alongside the engineers. Our stack is React and TypeScript on the front end, Go services with Postgres as our primary database, running on Kubernetes via Google Cloud Platform. Our engineers work with agentic coding tools, mostly Claude Code and Cursor, and a growing part of the product is LLM-backed. You'll work this way from day one, and we'll want your ideas on what to automate next, from how we write code to how we test, review, ship and run it.Own a feature area end to end, from design conversations with product through to production and follow-upLead technical design for your area and drive the architectural decisions within itWork with product and design to shape what we build: what's possible, what it costs, and what should come firstMentor the engineers around you and lift the quality of the squad's code and decisionsImprove the reliability, scalability and performance of the systems you ownGo deep on the cybersecurity domain and bring that understanding into what we buildTypically 5+ years of relevant engineering experience at tech-centric, product-driven companiesStrong TypeScript and ReactA backend language you're productive in (we use Go)Solid relational database skills (we use Postgres)AI coding tools as your default workflow, and the judgment to review and own what they producePragmatic trade-offs: you weigh technical quality against what the business needs nowLow ego, high care: you're in it for the product and the customer, not just the codeA track record of leading technical design for a feature area and seeing it through to productionExperience mentoring engineers and lifting the quality of the code and decisions around youCybersecurity experienceRunning services on Kubernetes, ideally on GCPBuilding complex applications or systems from the ground up with a cross-functional teamOwning a service in production: on-call, observability, and the judgment to know what to fix now and what can waitWe're fully remote, and we'd rather spend on things people actually use than on perks that look good in a job ad.Work from anywhere in Australia. We have offices in Sydney and Hobart, a co-working allowance everywhere else, and no attendance mandate. Two off-sites a year, one with your squad and one with the wider Product team or the whole company, plus city-based socials in between, with colleagues who like spending time together.Every engineer gets equity, so you share in UpGuard's growth.PTO plus two additional UpGuardian leave days to give you time to recharge your batteries.Irrespective of parenting role (all regions)This includes sick and carer's leave.$[amount] monthly lifestyle subsidy for your financial, physical and mental wellbeing.US$1,500 annual learning and development allowance, spent on whatever helps your career, not just courses.WFH set-up allowance to get your home office right in your first three months.UpGuard is a Certified Great Place to Work® in the US, Australia, UK and India, establishing its position as a leading global technology employer. 99% of team members agree that UpGuard is a great place to work!
