Safety Town Group Leader

Responsibilities Conduct Safety Town program for rising kindergartners, teaching life‑saving lessons on strangers, traffic, fire, pedestrian, gun, poison, drug, playground, bus and weather safety. Assist site supervisor and Safety Town community members with planning, promoting, organizing and implementing daily activities based on pre‑arranged educational safety themes. Supervise children participating in the program, oversee program activities, and lead a group of children through their class safety lessons. Provide emotional support and encouragement to child participants; ensure safety standards are always maintained, including responsibility for participants’ safety and whereabouts at all times. Report any accidents or incidents to the program supervisor. Assist children with practicing program skits and songs. Assist with set‑up and clean‑up of the classrooms and facilities used during the program. Position is work‑as‑required, no benefits. Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have at least 1 to 2 years of experience working with preschool‑aged children and/or experience in the recreation field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Contingent on successful completion of pre‑employment checks, including criminal history and background checks. Ability to work with children with special needs, special medical conditions, dietary concerns, and/or behavioral problems. Must have excellent communication and leadership skills. Must be creative and energetic. Must be able to identify recreational needs and interests of camp participants. Must exercise considerable tact and courtesy when interacting with program participants, parents and support staff. Consistent and reliable attendance record throughout the program is required. Must be available to work a revised schedule when needed. Must be physically able to operate common office equipment such as personal computers, typewriters, copiers, calculators, etc. Work involves sitting and standing, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, walking, occasional lifting of boxes up to 15–20 pounds. #J-18808-Ljbffr York County Defunct
