Teacher Employee Type Exempt Required Degree 4 Year Degree Manage Others No Chiaravalle Montessori is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and student-centered Full-Time Physical Education Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate brings enthusiasm for movement, wellness, and whole-child development while embracing Montessori principles and a commitment to fostering independence, confidence, and respect in students from Kindergarten through Middle School. This position is a full-time, fully benefited position.

THE SCHOOL

Chiaravalle is an AMS and ISACS accredited school, philosophically rooted in the methods of Maria Montessori. We incorporate mission-appropriate best practices in education to refine curriculum, improve programming, support learners, and enhance school culture. THE POSITION

The Physical Education Teacher works with students in Kindergarten through Middle School to support physical wellness, movement education, social-emotional growth, and healthy risk‑taking through a Montessori‑informed approach to physical education. Key responsibilities include: Plan and implement an engaging, developmentally appropriate physical education curriculum for students in Kindergarten through Middle School Create a positive, inclusive, and well‑managed gym environment that promotes confidence, teamwork, and lifelong wellness Differentiate instruction to support a range of learning styles, abilities, and developmental needs Foster student independence, self‑discipline, and respect through age‑appropriate guidance and classroom management Incorporate strength, flexibility, endurance, movement skills, and sports education into curriculum planning Collaborate with faculty and Learning Resources staff to support student growth and accommodations as needed Support Middle School wellness education topics including anatomy, nutrition, stress management, and healthy decision‑making Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities Prepare student progress reports and participate in parent conferences Coach at least one seasonal sport or extracurricular athletic activity Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school‑wide community events Maintain safe and organized learning spaces and equipment inventory SCHEDULE: 40 hours/wk, Monday - Friday Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field and an active State Professional Education License in Physical Education. You must have a minimum of 2 - 5 years of relevant teaching experience in a school setting, Montessori experience is a plus. Excellent observation, interpersonal, active listening, verbal and written communication, organizational, and prioritization skills are essential. This person must be adaptable to various situations, communication and social styles. Patience, the ability to stay calm and maintain respectful and peaceful communication with children and adults is also essential.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Physical requirements include full ability to see, walk, hear and talk as well as lift and carry up to 15 lbs. regularly, up to 40-50 lbs in the case of lifting or carrying a child in an emergency situation, and pushing/pulling/reaching to maintain files, supplies and equipment.
