Sr Manager, Data Engineering

Abbott seeks a Senior Manager of Data Engineering to lead a domain data engineering organization within Cancer Diagnostics. The role involves owning data strategy, roadmap delivery, stakeholder alignment, and technical governance while partnering with business and technology leaders on governed data products supporting analytics, machine learning, and AI initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and retain domain data engineering organization with clear goals, performance expectations, and succession planning
• Own domain data engineering strategy, roadmap priorities, delivery commitments, and operating performance metrics
• Resolve material technical decisions and manage priority, delivery, and technical-debt tradeoffs with Staff and Principal Engineers
• Ensure data products and integrations meet enterprise standards for quality, reliability, security, governance, and lifecycle management
• Build stakeholder relationships with senior business and technology leaders on roadmap status, risks, and technology-governance decisions

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field; or high school diploma with four years relevant experience
• Eight or more years progressively responsible experience in data engineering, data platforms, or technology delivery leadership
• Five or more years direct people-leadership experience managing engineering staff
• Demonstrated ownership of data domain or platform delivery from planning through production support
• Technical depth to direct data engineering work and manage architecture, integration, and platform tradeoffs
• Ability to lead delivery across internal reports, contractors, and matrixed teams with change and risk management
• Experience operating in regulated or highly controlled data environments with required quality and schedule delivery

Compensation: $129,300–$258,700 base
