Summer 2027 Intern - Data Engineer

As a Data Engineer intern for American Family Insurance, you will assist in building and enhancing data pipelines using SQL, Python and cloud technologies; analyze data issues, perform quality checks and support troubleshooting and resolution; work with engineering and business teams to document solutions and deliver reliable data for analytics and reporting.

An internship with American Family Insurance is a great opportunity to build your skillset and explore your career interests. Our summer student internship is a 10 to 14 week program that starts in mid to late May and ends in August.

During your internship, you'll work on impactful projects that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities. You'll also gain exposure to different areas of our business and have numerous opportunities for networking and coaching.

Interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs depending upon proximity to an AmFam office location.

Compensation Minimum: $25.00

Compensation Maximum: $39.00

Responsibilities:

Develop an understanding of our business, corporate culture and structure to support your work. Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches in response to changing situations. Build and enhance data pipelines using SQL, Python, and cloud technologies like GCP, AWS. Analyze data issues, perform quality checks, and support troubleshooting and resolution. Work with engineering and business teams to document solutions and deliver reliable data for analytics and reporting.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

Must be in student status at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship, graduating August 2027 or later. Must be pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD. Major/program must align with internship role. Strongly prefer candidates graduating in August 2027, December 2027 or May 2028.August SQL, Python and cloud technologies like GCP or AWS.
