Job Description Vertiv is hiring a Material Planner to oversee purchased parts, set and maintain planning parameters, and develop comprehensive plans for each component. Responsibilities include determining proper ABC classification, accurate forecasting, and developing statistical mixes for planning bills. The role also involves managing safety stock, reorder points, MIN/MAX levels, and periods of supply to optimize inventory, customer service, and total cost of ownership. This position supports multiple plants in Mexico and the US.
Production Planner/Scheduler

Production Planner/Scheduler
We are seeking an experienced Production Planner/Scheduler to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules based on available capacity and material availability, ensuring on-time delivery while proactively identifying and mitigating risks across a 2-8 week fixed planning horizon. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with cross-functional collaboration to drive operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and communicate production schedules based on determination of available capacity and material availability to support customer demand and delivery commitments
- Collaborate with Production and Manufacturing Engineering to assess available and necessary capacity to achieve market demand, incorporating capacity changes into the development and maintenance of production schedules
- Manage new product development and introduction (NPI) activities relative to production planning and scheduling, ensuring proper scheduling based on capacity ramp plans and material availability to support successful product launches
- Manage a 2-8 week fixed planning horizon, proactively identifying capacity constraints, material shortages, and other risks to achieving schedule adherence
- Perform capacity planning analysis to balance workload against available resources, identifying bottlenecks and recommending corrective actions
- Collaborate closely with Purchasing/Procurement teams to identify material shortages that may impact production schedules and drive timely resolution
- Escalate risks and constraints appropriately to leadership with recommended mitigation plans, ensuring proactive resolution before schedule impact occurs
- Monitor and adjust schedules in response to changing priorities, equipment downtime, quality issues, or supply disruptions
- Leverage ERP/MRP systems to manage production orders, material requirements, and capacity planning functions
- Mine data from source systems and build tools (reports, dashboards, models) to facilitate production planning, scheduling visibility, and risk mitigation
- Partner with cross-functional NPI teams to align capacity ramp timelines, material readiness, and production scheduling milestones
- Participate in daily/weekly production meetings to communicate schedule status, constraints, and recovery plans
- Drive continuous improvement in planning processes, tools, and cross-functional communication
- Experience: 3-5 years of direct experience in production planning and scheduling within a manufacturing environment
- ERP/MRP Proficiency: Demonstrated hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems for production planning, material requirements planning, and capacity management
- Capacity Planning: Strong understanding of capacity planning principles, including finite/infinite capacity modeling, constraint identification, and load balancing
- Material Planning: Proven ability to assess material availability, coordinate with procurement on shortage resolution, and incorporate material constraints into production schedules
- Data & Tools: Ability to extract and analyze data from source systems and build planning tools (e.g., Excel models, queries, reports, dashboards) to support scheduling decisions and risk identification
- Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, and other stakeholders to resolve constraints and drive alignment
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to escalate issues clearly and drive accountability for resolution
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- ERP experience with Oracle (Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud, or Oracle SCM) strongly preferred
- Experience with advanced planning tools or scheduling software (e.g., Oracle ASCP, Preactor, PlanetTogether)
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or advanced Excel (VBA, Power Query, pivot tables)
- Experience in discrete or process manufacturing environments with complex BOMs and multi-level scheduling
- Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) planning, including capacity ramp and material readiness coordination
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, S&OP, or demand planning processes
- Proactive Problem Solving - Anticipates issues before they impact production and drives resolution
- Analytical Thinking - Translates data into actionable scheduling decisions and risk assessments

- Capacity and material risks are identified early within the planning horizon and resolved proactively
- Strong, collaborative relationships exist with Procurement, Manufacturing, Engineering, and NPI teams
- New product introductions are seamlessly integrated into production schedules with minimal disruption
- Data-driven tools and processes continuously improve planning accuracy and visibility
- Escalations are timely, well-structured, and lead to effective resolution
- 0-3 Years experience
- Bachelors Degree a plus
- Professional Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) is a plus.
- Lean or Green Belt Six Sigma certification a plus
