The Opportunity Seaview is seeking an experienced, strategic, and financially sophisticated COO to serve as the key executor of and thought partner to the CEO's strategic vision. Key Responsibilities Executive & Operational Leadership Manage all day-to-day operations, ensuring cohesion between creative, strategic, and financial priorities. Serve as the CEO's internal operating and strategic partner - collaborating to prioritize big ideas, work through problems and analyze industry trends, and translate Seaview's vision into actionable, measurable outcomes, including new opportunities and verticals that expand the company's reach and enterprise value. In collaboration with the CEO, serve as the primary liaison between the company and its Board of Directors, including regularly reporting up to and interfacing with the Board on financial health, key initiatives, and general company updates. Formalize and maintain organizational structure - overseeing roles, decision-making authority, and reporting lines - while serving as an accessible, trusted presence for all staff. Own the company's internal meeting cadence and collaborative tools, ensuring company priorities and context are clearly and consistently communicated across departments; attend departmental meetings with the CEO and department heads as needed. Ensure decisions and commitments translate into clear ownership, deadlines, and follow-through across the organization. Manage external operational partners, including legal counsel, finance and business management support, and human resources vendors. Build and sustain a vibrant, collaborative company culture grounded in creativity, curiosity, and high performance. Strategic Financial Planning & Management In collaboration with external business management support: Own a current, complete view of Seaview's financial position across company decision-making and project realities, advising the CEO and department heads on key financial issues, including project-level decisions Develop and maintain the company's core budgeting documents. Revenue Management: project-by-project revenue modeling across theatrical, film, TV, and general management, in coordination with department heads; maintain a rolling 12-24 month revenue outlook synthesizing actuals with forward projections P&L Management: maintain and revise the annual operating budget monthly, tracking variance against prior projections and monitoring balance-sheet spend sent to production entities Cash Flow: maintain a rolling 12+ month cash position projection and proactively communicate funding needs and timing to the CEO, department heads, and business management Conduct a monthly review of the general ledger, P&L, and balance sheet; and proactively flag revenue or spending areas requiring CEO attention. Own Seaview's production investments portfolio, including paperwork and tracking systems. Manage Seaview's external financial partners, including the bookkeeping and accounting resources and the general management partners handling project-related accounting. People Management Processes In collaboration with external HR support and advisors: Lead organizational design and higher-order people strategy, including management coaching, talent development, team structure, succession planning, and culture, in coordination with the CEO. Own the employee lifecycle end-to-end, including recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of employees and contractors, annual reviews and ongoing development check-ins, performance and staffing issues, and day-to-day HR administration including PTO requests, Paid Family Leave planning, and employee complaint handling. Establish and maintain the policies governing personnel costs and operating expenses, including compensation structure, headcount planning, bonus criteria, and expense approval thresholds and oversee monthly tracking against them. Administration and execution of employee reviews and ongoing development check-ins, and managing high-level staffing concerns and performance issues as they arise. Legal & Business Affairs Oversight In collaboration with external legal counsel: Oversee all corporate legal matters for the company and its productions, including reviewing and negotiating agreements between Seaview and production partners, vendor agreements and partnerships, investments into productions, and corporate transactions. Work closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel to manage risk and protect the company’s interests across all divisions and in harmony with the Board of Directors. Production Support Maintain a broad, non-creative overview of all Seaview productions, across verticals, providing advice and oversight where needed. At critical moments, step in as a hands‑on problem solver, helping teams navigate challenges quickly and effectively. Qualifications 10+ years of senior leadership experience in entertainment, media, or related industries (theater experience highly preferred). Proven track record leading finance, operations, and legal/business affairs across a multi‑division organization. Experience building and scaling systems, processes, and teams in high‑growth environments. Strong communication and relationship‑management skills, with the judgment to manage both up and across and organization. MBA or JD is of interest, but not required. Compensation Salary Range The salary range for this role is $150,000–$225,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits 401(k) with guaranteed 3% employer match. Participation in Seaview's medical, dental, and vision plans. Three (3) weeks paid vacation; in addition, the company observes all federal holidays and regularly elects to close the office during the winter holiday week(s).
