Registered Nurse - Acute Med/Surg

Schedule: 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM

The competent Nurse practices independently in an acute medical/surgical setting and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. This role involves providing both routine and complex care for patients, including those with orthopedic, colorectal, urology, sepsis, small bowel obstruction, and geriatric gynecological needs. The Nurse is responsible for meeting long-range clinical goals, managing contingencies, and efficiently delegating tasks to other care providers.

Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with competency levels.
• Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and resources.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
• BLS certification required (AHA only).
• ACLS certification required (AHA only).
• RN License in the state of Texas or compact.
