Assistant Distance Coach

Assistant Distance Coach Location: Athens, Georgia. Position Summary Assist head coach with highly competitive Division I Track & Field Program in the SEC; assist with administration related to recruiting, budgets, traveling, public relations, fund‑raising camps and clinics; organize and conduct practices and competitions; administer and promote all phases of the Track & Field Program. Incumbent also responsible for an array of team duties, events, travel arrangements, external logistics, and creative services pertaining to the sport of Track and Field and Cross Country. Responsibilities Assist Associate Head Cross Country Coach in evaluating and recruiting qualified student‑athletes, coordinating recruiting travel and visit itineraries (60% of time). Assist in conducting and evaluating all practice sessions for training groups as assigned (25% of time). Serve as a Track & Field staff meet director for all home meets; assist with away meet requirements and fund‑raising events (10% of time). Other duties as assigned (5% of time). Qualifications Ability to effectively communicate with student‑athletes, academic counselors, parents, and coaches. Ability to work independently on multiple assignments. Ability to organize and prepare for events and travel in advance (essential). Physical Demands Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, and peripheral vision. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but escalates to high during practice and athletic competitions. Driving as needed to perform job duties.
