RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain security in buildings, towers, and posts of an adult correctional facility, intervene during emergencies or altercations, and gain physical control of offenders. Supervise, escort, and transport offenders inside and outside the facility, conduct periodic counts, and search offenders and living quarters for contraband. Supervise housing units, conduct health and safety hazard inspections, and perform random and specific searches of residents and visitors. Conduct interviews and obtain statements of victims, witnesses, suspects, and other involved parties during incidents. Prepare tracking reports and documentation for disciplinary procedures. Discuss issues with offenders, refer severe concerns to superiors, and promote rehabilitation through effective communication, mentoring, and deescalation techniques.
