The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining CNC programs used in the fabrication and manufacturing of XLT products. This position translates engineering drawings and CAD models into accurate, efficient machine programs while ensuring product quality, equipment safety, material utilization, and production efficiency.
The CNC Programmer works closely with Engineering, Fabrication, Production, and Quality to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges, improve processes, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Success in this position requires strong technical knowledge, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to producing quality products safely, accurately, on time, and at the lowest feasible cost.

Essential Functions:
This position will perform the below listed duties consistently, accurately, timely, safely, and at the lowest feasible cost:
- Develop, create, modify, and maintain CNC programs using CAD/CAM software and applicable machine programming systems.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, specifications, and manufacturing instructions to develop accurate programs.
- Translate CAD files into CNC programs that meet engineering specifications and production requirements.
- Determine appropriate machining and fabrication sequences, cutting paths, tooling, speeds, feeds, and machine settings.
- Perform calculations necessary to establish material dimensions, cutting locations, bend sequences, tolerances, and machine operations.
- Develop geometric layouts and nesting arrangements to maximize material utilization and minimize scrap.
- Identify and correct programming errors, dimensional discrepancies, and potential machine interference issues.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Fabrication, Production, and Quality to resolve programming and manufacturing concerns.
- Assist with identifying and resolving recurring fabrication issues, nonconforming products, and process inefficiencies.
- Collaborate with operators and leadership to identify process improvements and eliminate non-value-added activities.
- Apply continuous improvement principles, including Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and waste reduction.
- Follow all established safety policies, machine operating procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, and potential manufacturing hazards.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the President.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of CNC programming, manufacturing processes, and CAD/CAM software.
- Experience using SolidWorks and CAD/CAM software strongly preferred.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), dimensional accuracy, and manufacturing tolerances.
- Understanding of machining and fabrication processes, tooling, cutting parameters, and material characteristics.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to evaluate solutions and make sound decisions.
- Ability to prioritize assignments, manage multiple projects, and meet production deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of common hand tools, power tools, threaded fasteners, and manufacturing equipment.
- Willingness to learn new programming software, manufacturing technologies, and continuous improvement methods.

Physical Requirements:
- Standing, walking, and repetitive hand use for extended periods, up to 10 hours per day.
- Sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as required by assigned tasks.
- Lifting and handling materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Close and distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, color differentiation, and the ability to adjust focus as required by the work.
- Working at computer workstations and accessing manufacturing equipment throughout the production facility.

- Ability to maintain concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail while managing multiple priorities.
