Our organization is in search of a thoughtful and collaborative leader to take on the role of Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine within the Department of Medicine. This position offers a chance to lead a well-established and highly regarded academic division that plays a vital role in outpatient care and medical education.

As part of the Albany Med Health System, which is the sole academic health sciences center and Level 1 trauma center in northeastern New York, the Division of General Internal Medicine primarily provides clinical care in an outpatient setting, while inpatient services are managed by closely associated academic hospitalists. This division is essential to the undergraduate and graduate medical education programs within the Department of Medicine.

About the Role

In your capacity as Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine, you will be responsible for overseeing all academic, clinical, and educational functions of the division. You will spearhead an institutional initiative aimed at increasing the number of medical students and trainees pursuing careers in ambulatory internal medicine. Collaborating closely with the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director and the Medical Student Clerkship Director, you will work to enhance excellence across undergraduate and graduate medical education programs.

The Chief will also be instrumental in advancing the Division's scholarly and academic objectives while sharing operational and financial oversight with a skilled management team.

As Chief, you will have the opportunity to:

• Provide strategic direction for a well-established academic division focused on ambulatory internal medicine.

• Advance innovative outpatient clinical care models in partnership with aligned hospitalist teams.

• Enhance and expand undergraduate and graduate medical education in the field of internal medicine.

• Encourage students and trainees to consider careers in ambulatory internal medicine.

• Support and develop the Division's scholarly and academic initiatives.

• Collaborate with departmental and institutional leadership to achieve shared operational and financial objectives.

Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent with board certification in Internal Medicine.

• Proven experience in academic ambulatory internal medicine, showcasing excellence in clinical care and education.

• Prior experience in leadership, management, or program development is preferred.

• A strong interest in educational innovation and faculty development.

• Eligibility for an academic appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.

• Possession of an active and unrestricted medical license or eligibility for licensure in New York State.
