Position Summary: The Coding Analyst evaluates internal coding practices and clinical documentation to safeguard revenue integrity and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. This role conducts internal chart audits to identify coding errors, documentation gaps, and compliance risks. The Coding Analyst educates and collaborates with providers and coding staff to improve documentation accuracy, coding quality, and adherence to guidelines, ultimately reducing audit exposure and supporting overall revenue cycle performance. Compensation is dependent on skills and experience. Your contribution to the team includes: Conduct periodic audits of provider documentation, identifying coding errors and providing detailed analysis and rationale aligned with coding guidelines and regulatory standards. Meet regularly with providers to review audit findings, discuss documentation opportunities, and provide education to improve coding accuracy. Serve as a resource and provide support to Coding Specialists and the billing team on coding-related questions, guidelines, and best practices. Perform comprehensive review of patient records to ensure ICD 10 and CPT codes accurately reflect the patient’s documented condition and are coded to the highest specificity for risk gap closure and compliance. Attend scheduled and ad hoc meetings (virtual or on-site) to discuss billing, coding, and compliance topics as needed. Develop and deliver training modules for providers and Coding Specialists based on audit findings and emerging error trends. Maintains good attendance, is punctual and works full scheduled shift as a condition of employment. Attend staff meetings, in-service meetings and participate in agency committees and task force activities as required. This position is considered hybrid. Though predominantly remote employees are required to come into the office when there is a business need with little notice given. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Must have’s you’ll need to be successful: Completion of coding program and Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is required. Three (3) years’ coding experience is required, proficiency in E&M and ICD-10 coding required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret technical and other complex documents. Ability to write routine correspondence such as letters and memos. Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to internal and/or external clients. Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings, including interactions with internal teams and external stakeholders, while maintaining professionalism and clarity. Possesses basic operating knowledge of computers. Intermediate level of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required. Possession and maintenance of Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certification required. Proof of vaccination for COVID-19 is required, prior to start.
