Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Oncology Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/28/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 10 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Travel RN – Medical Oncology/Hematology Position Overview Specialty: Medical Oncology/Hematology Setting: Outpatient Oncology Clinic Start: ASAP Shift: Days Schedule: 4 × 10-hour shifts Shift Time: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM Weekends: No Call: No Major Holidays: No Minor Holidays: May be scheduled if the clinic is open Scrub Color: Navy Blue Parking: Free Experience Requirements Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience At least 1 year of Oncology experience required Outpatient/Clinic experience required First-time travelers not accepted Must have completed at least one 13-week travel assignment Traveler must live more than 100 miles from the facility Former permanent staff must wait 1 full year before returning as a traveler ‍⚕️ Patient Population Adult patients 18 Medical Oncology/Hematology Hematology Bone Marrow Transplant ( BMT ) patients Pre-transplant Post-transplant Required Skills Epic Ambulatory experience – REQUIRED Outpatient/clinic workflow experience Patient rooming, including: Vital signs Review of Systems (ROS) Medication reconciliation Weight Chaperoning providers during examinations and procedures Obtaining and processing orders Preparing patients for infusions and communicating when patients are cleared Chart checks Procedure setup Referral review Ability to work with multiple Medical Oncology providers EMR / Charting Epic Ambulatory – REQUIRED Unit & Clinical Support Department Leadership Charge Nurse Team Lead as a resource Clinical Assistants (CA) On-site laboratory Chemo nurses handle: Port access Blood draws Physician team includes 7 Medical Oncologists Each Medical Oncologist typically works with an ARNP Floating Routinely work with different physicians within Medical Oncology May occasionally be asked to support physicians in another clinic Floating outside Medical Oncology is unlikely Orientation Department orientation typically lasts 5 days Orientation length may vary depending on the candidate’s skillset and comfort level Orientation is conducted within the department at CCI – Rapid City Time-Off Policy Up to 7 days of time off may be approved, excluding holidays Time off is subject to facility approval Traveler may be required to extend the contract to accommodate approved time off Education & Certification Completion of a nursing education program approved by a Board of Nursing Active South Dakota RN license required BLS required About Slate Healthcare Slate Healthcare is a premier travel healthcare staffing agency, connecting healthcare professionals with thousands of opportunities at top-tier hospitals and facilities across the country.
