Openings as of 8/18/2026 2026-2027 CTE Engineering Teacher Position Type: Middle School Teaching/ Computer Date Posted: 8/8/2026 Job Title : CTE-Engineering Salary Range : $58,414-$105,697 Supervisor : Principal Job Classification : Exempt Contract Length : 10-months (200 days) Job Summary The CTE-Engineering Teacher is responsible for developing in each student an understanding of Engineering in an innovative classroom environment that fosters, promotes, and develops students' ability to apply problem-solving processes and core content knowledge to solve real-world problems in creative ways that lead to deeper learning. The CTE-Engineering Teacher is responsible to the principal or his/her designee. Essential Job Functions Teaches knowledge and skills in Engineering. Utilizes course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities. Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. Develops lesson plans and organizes daily classes so that demonstration, instruction, and practice can be completed within the allotted time. Demonstrates skills such as shorthand and use of technological devices/equipment and techniques such as those used in merchandising. Prepares appropriate instructional aids and display materials to enhance learning. Instructs students in use, care and safe operation of business equipment. Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to equipment as required. Maintains an auditable record of student attendance and makes daily reports. Controls assigned district-owned office equipment and supplies to prevent loss or abuse. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment in the laboratory-type classroom where several kinds of activities may be taking place simultaneously. Instructs students in importance to employers of accuracy, neatness, efficiency, resourcefulness, and good work habits. Evaluates each student's performance, knowledge, and skills in course being taught and prepares student progress reports and employment references. Maintains continued contact with business community to keep in touch with job entry requirements and current business methods and equipment. Evaluates, selects, and requisitions books, instructional aids, equipment, and instructional supplies and maintains required inventory records. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities. Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress. Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day. Participates in curriculum and other development programs. Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of student activities. Attends staff meetings, PTA meetings, and serves on staff committees as required. Performs other duties as requested by the school Principal or his/her designee. Job Specifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required) Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in the appropriate subject area. Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles. Demonstrated ability in decision making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships, and planning. Knowledge of a wide range of scientific subject areas. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed. Ability to organize and coordinate work. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree Certification and Licensure: Virginia professional license or ability to obtain a license. Working Conditions and Physical Demands Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
