Make a difference in students’ lives as a Special Education Teacher supporting grades 6-12 for the current school year. This contract role offers part-time hours and plays a key role in ensuring compliance and collaboration within the school community.

Your primary responsibilities will revolve around assisting with IEP meeting preparation and documentation, in addition to providing support across both high school and middle school buildings. With varying needs each week, this position is ideal for someone adaptable, organized, and committed to helping staff meet important deadlines.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Maine Special Education Teacher License required
  • Experience working with middle and high school students is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with reliable time management abilities
  • Comfortable navigating IEP documentation and software
  • Collaborative approach when working with other educators and staff

Core Responsibilities:

  • Attend IEP meetings, typically scheduled before or after the school day according to availability and the needs of the school
  • Draft written notices and various documents required for meetings
  • Enter and update student information in IEPs to ensure accuracy
  • Coordinate with school staff to provide flexible meeting and paperwork support
  • Offer assistance and guidance in both the high school and middle school environments
  • Adapt support to the fluctuating needs during the school year, especially leading up to IEP deadlines
  • Help staff manage caseloads and meet timeline requirements
