Infection Prevention Coordinator (RN)

Responsibilities Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital in Wildomar, California is a licensed 122‑bed facility accredited by the Joint Commission. It is Southwest Riverside County's only designated Trauma Center and a county-designated Paramedic Base Station, performing more than 4,000 surgeries a year and averaging 4,000 Emergency Department visits per month. The hospital features a Bariatric Weight‑Loss Surgery Center of Excellence and the region’s only Total Joint Center. Southwest Healthcare Rancho Springs Hospital in Murrieta, California is a 120‑bed acute‑care hospital with the region's only Pediatric Emergency Services team (for children 14 and under) provided by board‑certified Rady Children’s emergency medicine physicians. Rancho Springs also offers the area's only OB/Emergency Department program and hosts the largest neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in the region, operated by Rady Children’s. The Childbirth Center is the largest in the region and features spacious family‑friendly private suites. The Infection Preventionist possesses knowledge of hospital epidemiology principles and is responsible for the coordination of the facility‑wide Infection Control Program which includes surveillance, analysis, and reporting of infections; educating employees about infection control; and the development or revision of policies and procedures to ensure rigorous infection control standards that meet Joint Commission, OSHA, Department of Health, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requirements. The role prepares, presents, and coordinates clinical and non‑clinical trainings to ensure staff competency upon hire and throughout their employment, and collaborates with program and department managers to design facility‑wide programs that improve quality of care and employee performance through the development of staff knowledge and skills. Must have advanced knowledge of medical terminology. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred. If not certified, certification required within two and a half years after hire. Certifications / Licenses Eligible to become certified in Infection Prevention within one (1) year of employment. APIC membership. Registered Nursing License in the State of CA required. Education BSN required.
