C&L Mobile Mechanic is a growing mobile automotive repair company focused on making vehicle repair simple and convenient. Our technicians travel directly to customers at their homes, workplaces, and other approved locations to perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs.

We currently serve customers in Charlotte, NC and Columbus, OH and are building a dependable team of experienced automotive technicians capable of handling a steady flow of mobile repair work.

C&L Mobile Mechanic handles customer acquisition, scheduling, estimates, dispatching, and payments so technicians can focus on completing quality automotive repairs.

POSITION SUMMARY

Mobile Automotive Technicians are responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing customer vehicles at scheduled mobile service appointments.

Technicians will be assigned jobs based on their submitted availability, service area, experience, and the type of repair required. Our goal is to keep qualified technicians consistently scheduled with repair work throughout their available working hours.

Repairs may include brakes, starters, alternators, batteries, suspension, cooling systems, tune-ups, diagnostics, no-start conditions, and other general automotive repairs that can safely be completed in a mobile environment.

This is an independent contractor (1099) position .

AS AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR (1099)

Technicians are expected to provide C&L Mobile Mechanic with their regular working availability and maintain consistent communication with our dispatch team.

C&L Mobile Mechanic will:

• Schedule customer appointments within the technician's provided availability
• Assign jobs based on technician experience, location, and capability
• Coordinate customer communication and appointment details
• Provide estimates and job information before the scheduled appointment
• Handle customer payments and invoicing
• Work to maintain a consistent flow of jobs throughout the technician's scheduled availability

Technicians are expected to remain available for assigned jobs during the hours they have committed to work.

Compensation is generally $65+ per book labor hour , depending on experience and job type.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

We are looking for experienced automotive technicians who can confidently work without direct supervision.

Ideal candidates should have:

• 2-5+ years of professional automotive repair experience
• Strong automotive diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Experience working on a variety of makes and models
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems
• Strong communication and customer-service skills
• Ability to accurately identify additional repairs or concerns
• Ability to complete repairs efficiently while maintaining quality workmanship

Technicians should be comfortable performing services such as:

• Brake pad, rotor, and caliper replacement
• Starter and alternator replacement
• Battery replacement and electrical diagnosis
• Suspension and steering repairs
• Cooling system repairs
• Serpentine belts and tensioners
• Spark plugs and ignition components
• Oil and fluid services
• Check-engine-light diagnostics
• No-start diagnostics
• General mechanical repairs
• Vehicle inspections and diagnostics

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT

Because this is a mobile independent contractor position, technicians must provide their own tools and equipment necessary to complete assigned work.

Technicians must have:

• Complete automotive mechanic toolset
• Reliable transportation
• Floor jack and appropriate jack stands
• Automotive diagnostic scanner
• Battery-powered or portable tools necessary for mobile repairs
• Smartphone with reliable cellular service
• Any specialty tools required for repairs they are qualified to perform

LICENSE, VEHICLE & INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS

Technicians must have:

• Valid driver's license
• Reliable personal or work vehicle
• Current vehicle registration
• Current automobile insurance
• Required contractor/business insurance
• Acceptable driving history
• Ability to travel throughout the assigned service area
• Ability to maintain dependable attendance during scheduled availability

Technicians must complete all required contractor onboarding documentation before receiving assignments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Technicians must be able to:

• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Bend, kneel, squat, reach, and work underneath vehicles
• Safely operate automotive tools and equipment
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Stand or work in automotive repair positions for extended periods
• Safely handle automotive fluids, components, and equipment

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for technicians who are reliable, experienced, professional, and dependable .

Technicians should be comfortable receiving scheduled assignments throughout the day and traveling between customer locations within their service area.

Because technicians interact directly with customers, communication and professionalism are extremely important. Technicians are expected to arrive on time, stay in communication with dispatch, complete repairs professionally, document their work, and leave the customer's property clean.

This position is best suited for experienced technicians who want a consistent flow of mobile repair work without having to handle advertising, customer acquisition, scheduling, estimating, invoicing, or payment collection themselves.
